I have a 3 1/2 and 2 year old girls. The 3 1/2 year old is growing out of her crib. I mentioned getting a toddler bed and DH says that toddler beds are the same size as a crib matress. Is that true?

yes most toddler beds just use a crib mattress. my 3yo uses hers but shes been in it since she was 16mo, i think if it were now i would not get a toddler bed, unless you have a really small 3yo lol

so is mine! she'll be growing out of it soon, but since she shares a room with her sister we're waiting on getting a bigger bed until we move her back into her own room.

Toddler beds are a waste of money, IMO. I would go straight to a twin matress on the floor, or a regular twin bed with rails.

gonna let you in on a secret that dh came up with...i didn't want a rail on molly's twin bed so i was going to buy those foam rails that go UNDER the fitted sheet to keep them from rolling out.
they are about 40-50 bucks for the full set. dh went to walmart and bought 3 pool noodles...duct taped them together in a pyramid and put some no stick carpet underpad around them so they wouldn't slip...works like a CHARM , looks way better than an outer rail and was about 5-7 bucks to make.

We use a toddler bed but we got it free as a hand-me-down otherwise we would not have one.

Hmmmmm.... I have some pool noodles in the back yard. That sounds tempting.
