Trick-or-treating question

Last year we both wanted to go out with the kids so we left a bowl of candy on our front stoop. This year, we have neighbors who I wouldn't trust not to come and take all the candy, so do we just go out and trick-or-treat with the kids and leave no candy? Or just leave candy and hope for the neighbors not to mess with it...

I know one of us could stay home, but honestly we both like watching the kids so much neither of us wants to miss out on that by staying home.

How long do you trick or treat for? Maybe you could hand out some candy before going and then leave the rest in a bowl outside. If the neighbors take it all, it will be on them. Hopefully their parents will not let them take all the candy.

I'd just leave a bowl out and go.

We aren't usually out that long anyway, but if you plan to be out a while, no telling who will get the candy anyway, so don't worry about it.

We leave a bowl out, and I'm sure that there are some kids who take more than their fair share. I don't worry too much about it.

We honestly only hand out candy to people we know. I know that sounds bad but here people rarely trick or treat in the neighborhood. Its always to damn cold!!

If I was worried I wouldn't leave all of it out. It's the honnor system you can make people be honest but if the worry is have some left to hand out when you get back at least your covered only lefting out some of your candy.

We always handed out candy while one of us took DD1 around the neighborhood. This year we have two trick-or-treaters and no kids near our building so we will all go out. The girls are so excited!

We switch off. DH will stay home while I walk with the kids around one part of the neighborhood. Then we come home, they dump off the candy they got, and I stay home while he takes them out to do the other side of the neighborhood.

We leave a bowl out. One year someone stole all the candy. And the bowl.

We do it anyway. Although once I saw someone leave a Longerberger basket out. I thought that was ill thought out.

I would just leave the candy out. thats what we do

I take the kids. DH stays home and hands out the candy.

I would leave the bowl out and not worry about it if you both want to go.
