Fried pork chops, fried potatoes, and milk gravy to go on homemade bread. We're also having some asparagus drizzled with olive oil, garlic and red pepper flakes to make the meal somewhat healthy. :p

We're eating light. I'm not dirtying the kitchen much tonight because I'm supposed to be packing (have I mentioned how much I HATE packing?).
The kids ate fried egg and cheese sandwiches. I ate leftover noodles with oil and goat cheese.

Down with French bread! I really didn't know how much time and fuss went into making it. Well, I knew because I read the recipe before, but I obviously forgot. lol I am waiting for my honey oat bread to rise and I don't care if it goes with dinner or not, I'm eating it!

Honey Oat Bread sounds good! I'd love to have that recipe.
Here it is:
Honey oatmeal bread:
Pour 2 C hot water over 1 C old fashioned oats. Let soak for 1/2 hr. Soak 2 packets yeast in 1/3 C. warm water. Add 1 tsp salt, 1/2 C honey, and 2 TBS melted butter to the oats. Then stir in yeast. Gradually add 4-5 cups flour and beat well.
Knead 5-10 mins adding flour as necessary until dough is elastic. Oil dough and let rise in large bowl. Punch down. Makes 2 loaves Let rise and bake at 325 for 50-60 mins.
My mom would toast some oats and then mix a little butter and honey together. When the bread was done she'd drizzle the butter and honey over it and then sprinkle it with toasted oats.
So, I made it today, but a little different. I mixed in the flour a little at a time, but I only did 4 cups instead of 5. Then as I kneaded the bread I dusted my hands and the table with the remaining cup of flour. I tried to use it sparingly. Man it was GOOD! I hand mix my bread so I really beat the living crap out of it today. :D It really does help get our those penned up feelings. lol
I have a four grain bread that isn't a bread that needs kneading. I will have to post that one. I am bringing some loaves of bread to a family pig roast, so I am experimenting.

We had to go to a out of town visitation for a friend.
They had a potluck dinner, and I forgot to think ahead, so I ended up eating the only for sure safe thing there. raw veggies. Carrots, celery, and bowl of lettuce. i got some funny looks with 4 carrot sticks on my plate and a bowl of lettuce, so I had to explain the whole bfing/FA thing!
DH on the other hand enjoyed Fried chicken, mashed taters, cassaroles, and lovely looking desserts. The stinker!
