I saw the little drop of dried blood when I started and thought hmm, that's weird...this has never happend before...I started pumping and the milk looked pinkish...so I stopped and looked at my nipple, it has a little crack and the pump is irritating it...so I stopped...and bagged that 1 oz of milk and pumped the other side no problem...
My question is do I need to toss that 1 oz, I figure I would, but not sure. Also what will help remedy the crack, I have lanolin, but its funny I dont normally use it and did today and it cracked!
TIA!

No, you don't need to toss the milk, it's fine to feed him.
To remedy the crack, obviously correct what caused the initial problem (latch, pump flange, etc), and use BM on it and either lanolin, soothies or other product to help keep it moist while healing.
Do find a way to express milk, either by hand or with baby, to keep up with your supply in that breast.
Hoping for a quick healing for you!

If you need to pump on a regular basis, make sure you use plenty of lanolin before each pumping session. Plenty of air will heal your breast the quickest, so as much nudity as you can stand would be beneficial!
If you must get dressed, put a big dollup on a disposable pad (as lanolin will stain) and cover the wound, to keep it moist.
To avoid future nipple trauma, I invested in a pair of silverette, a small pair of pure silver cups that you literally place on your nipples, heals cracks or punctures very quickly and also wards off thrush, which you are now more likely to see, with an open wound. They also immediately reduce any pain associated with trauma. You can check them out here: www.breastfeedingheaven.com
Changing positions while nursing is the easiest way to avoid nipple trauma, it may be just a slight bad angle at which you are feeding. Double check the latch, to make sure you are doing that correctly, watch the tutorial here for a refresher on good latch versus bad latch: www.drjacknewman.com
Are you experiencing any pain while nursing?
