I know this has been posted about 101 times already. I checked the archives and it isn't there. So would someone please repost a list of non dairy foods for me.
I think it is time I try it. Paul is having such bad gas at night he cries in such pain and colic drops and mylicon don't help. Heart breaking! Plus he has a red bottom and greenish poops. I know it could be a foremilk/hindmilk thing but he only gets one side.
I just think it'd be worth it to try for a few weeks to see how he does.
But it's going to super hard! I eat dairy so much and can hardly find anything around here for breakfast without it. So please, anyone who has a list of safe foods, post it.
And what do you use in your coffee?
BTW - miss everyone! Haven't had time to hang out here since having the baby. Things are going decent. Nursing my toddler is still rougher than I'd like it to be. But he still needs it so much we make due. The baby is doing well except for the gas business. :)

I used rice milk in my coffee and on my cereal. I don't have a list of "safe" foods. I just read the labels. If there's something in particular you're looking for, let me know and I can probably tell you how to have it.

I would use rice milk, too. It works well for replacing milk in most recipes. I had to cut out dairy for several months with dd.

DS drinks rice milk and I use Vance's Dairy Free for most of my cooking. It tastes more milk like to me.
For breakfast you can do rice milk on cereal, dairy free toast with Fleishman's Unsalted Margarine, a fried egg, cheese less omelet, dairy free pancakes or waffles (they do exist) or breakfast meat or oatmeal.

You guys are great! Thanks for the replies. I had oatmeal this am with water instead of milk. It's good that way too. I have oversupply issues so can't do that every day or I'll soak all my shirts! I knew there was a margarine too. I need to do some shopping and see what I can find.
This will be a fun 2 weeks! I do hope it helps but then I am locked in to this for at least 6 more months. But something has gotta help this kiddo! His gas is out of control.

One more thing. Not sure what I'm doing here anyway. So what happens if this does help and his poop gets better and butt is less red and gas is better all that. Then how long to I wait to try and eat dairy again?

Both DC are now drinking rice milk, although DD will still drinks some soy. I LOVE the rice myself.
Breakfast for us is usally pancakes, bacon and eggs, breakfast stirfry (sometimes as a omlete sometimes not) I just toss any veggies we have on hand and suate them up.
Lets not forget everyones go to....Oreos! (not for breakfast of course)
Pancakes
pinch of salt 2tsp baking powder
2TB sugar 1 large egg beaten
1 C soy or rice milk canola oil for frying
1.Sift flour with salt, baking powder, and sugar.
2.Make a well in the center, add the egg and half of the soy/rice milk, and wisk (don't overmix) to form a smooth creamy batter. Stir in the remaining milk.
3. Heat a little oil in a frying pan over M heat. Add enought batter to pan to make a 5 inch panckae, cook untill buibbles appear and pop on the surface, and pancake is set and brown underneath. Filp. Redo.
We serve pancakes with honey.
