Okay I know this sounds like a stupid question but I do I know he's getting enough breastmilk at 10 months? He nurses fairly frequently thoughout the day but he recently starting wanting alot more solids...he's pretty much feeding himself at this point. He just learned how to do a real crawl a couple weeks ago so I just figured that with all the extra energy output his needs would be increasing (which they have). He doesn't get any juice but he does get some water with meals in a sippy. He never takes more than about 1 1/2 ounce/meal. He is also having constipation issues and thats probably the biggest reason I'm wondering. Thanks! After months of being perfectly okay with trusting my body now I"m starting to question things and it's frustrating...moving into a new phase I guess!

Are you continuing to nurse prior to offering solids? How many times a day is he getting solids?

As long as he's drinking minimal water and still giving you the 5-6 wet diapers a day, he's probably getting enough milk. If he's getting constipated, either he needs more milk or you need to re-eval his solid intake (is he eating constipating foods, etc.).

Isn't it true that everytime we get into a routine with our children, things change and shift into a new phase? It's the way of life...

How many solid food meals is he eating per day?

He is eating 2-3 "meals" a day now...but it depends on the day. Yes, I nurse before I feed solids also. I'm trying to avoid all the known constipators and I'm going really slow with food intro. I'm getting 5-6 wet diapers a day also. Any additional info would be great. Thanks :)

He's doing just about what my DD is doing and did at 10mo. (she's almost a year now). She still eats 2-3 meals a day (couple Tbsp each meal), nurses before meals and also nurses several times at night. Oh she also gets either water or more BM in a sippy for meals. I haven't seen the solids (even when she eats a lot in one day) have any effect on how much she nurses.

I'd just keep an eye on the nursing habits and just try to keep a good balance with nursing and adding the solids.
