To spend on your new baby....

Assume you already had clothing, diapers, crib, bassinett, etc. All the basics...

What would you buy?

More diapers, or a new grooming kit for the baby, mylicon drops, infant tylenol/ibuprofen, gripe water, a baby book, or toys.
Or I would use it as the money for eating/phone calls/etc during your hospital stay.

I would most likely use it for something that you could use extra stores of - diapers (even a few extra cloth ones, if you CD), wipes, food, etc.

Or, if you don't already have one, you could find a nice outfit for baby's hospital pictures, or a nice going home outfit.

If I had everything I needed for the baby, I wouldn't spend it on the baby. I would put it to good use by buying something that I did need. (groceries, clothes for the older kids, Christmas gifts for the older kids)

Eta: As a giftcard giver, it wouldn't bother me if someone used the gift card for something else they needed for their family. Assuming the baby truly had everything they needed and the giftee didn't want to spend it on something they didn't need. Although a baby can always use diapers!

We used money we got for our 3rd baby for take out. With two other kids to care for in addition to the new baby, that was what was really helpful to us at the time- not having to cook. We had all the cute clothes and baby gear that we needed and didn't really need to save the money for diapers.

Being one that can NEVER hang on to money (thanks, DH!) and we are always paycheck to paycheck, I would Horde it til baby came...Might need gas $, Food, emergency doc. visit ect.
