So, last Tuesday dh and I came down with a nasty viral infection, within a few hours of each other and became extremely sick... abdominal pains, nausea, vomitting, and body aches so bad we couldn't even pick up our 12 month old, 18 and half pound daughter. We literally could not care for our baby girl :-( By Thursday, things we looking up and by Friday both of us were feeling much better, until Saturday morning. Dh was fine, but I woke up with severe abdominal cramps, nausea, gurgling, churning tummy, and awful gas pains. I didn't feel right and new something was way off... so playing it safe I went to the ER. Good thing, I was very dehydrated so I was hooked up to IV's for a while. Initially all they told me was that is should be clearing up, but sometimes viruses stick around a while... but why would it go away and come back? Later, after hearing what I had to eat... he figured it out. I was having a bout of temporary lactose intolerance since the cells in my gut were totally destroyed...UGH!!!! (If this is what my daughter felt like before we figured out all of what she was allergic to, oh dear). Just when I can eat dairy again, I'm back off it... gotta love my luck! LOL

Anyway... I tell you this story since you needed background for the best part. Prior to the Dr. hooking me up for IV fluids, he was asking some questions and jotting things down.... also talking about anti-nausea medication. I told him that I was breastfeeding and that I didn't want anything that would interfere or be considered harmful. He looked up from his clipboard and asked "How old is your daughter?" I smiled proudly and said "she just turned a year old." He got a huge smile on his face and very sincerely said "Good for you... that is so nice to hear." I LOVED IT... a doctor who actually supported a mommy breastfeeding past a year!!!! I feel like so many are telling us it's not necessary or whatever... how nice to see!!!!

Thought you ladies may have liked to hear that one!

P.S. It took over 24 hours, but I'm finally feeling better today. What an awful week :-(
