It's open season again for health insurance and my dh's work.

My doctor's office is no longer taking the insurance we have.

What factors should we (read I) consider when picking a health insurance company?

My ds and h are healthy and don't have any issues.

My dd has a seizure disorder and sees a neurologist. She also has a brain defect (Chiari Type I with stringomylia) that has no symptoms at this point and may (or hopefully more likely) will not progress into anything that will need any treatment (which is brain surgery). However, it needs monitoring.

I have a couple common type issues.

I'm assuming you're talking about a group policy. If so, you need to decide if being able to go to doctors of your choice freely is more important or if the cost is more important. HMOs are usually cheaper, but you have to go to the doctor you select as your PCP, and then the PCP has to give referrals to other doctors you may need to see. You have to weigh copays and deductibles versus cost as well. Also, a big deciding factor for me is whether or not a doctor I like is on the list.

As for your health, though, don't take anything for granted. While I hope you remain healthy, you never know what tomorrow may bring.
