first tooth!

I think my little one has finally cut her first tooth! She is 4 days shy of being 6 months old. She has been waking up several times throughout the night for the past week and a half which she had never done before (she sleeps though night and has been for quite some time). Last night i was feeling around, like usual, and I swear I felt something sharp and hard that wasn't there before! Of course, she won't let me look in her mouth, LOL, the second my finger is in there she chomps on it, and I feel it again.

i am so excited! Just such a moment for us:)

On the BF related note, any tips on BFing as she does get her teeth and if she wants to gnaw on me? I am still very much interested in BFing her for a while, and I am worried now that this new, exciting tooth may cause a problem! I know people deal with it all the time, so any suggestions for me?

That is so neat when they get their first tooth. DD got hers at 8mo...she hasn't stopped teething since, she's 12mo. now. Good thing is she's been such a trooper about it. She's only fussy and nurses more the few days before the tooth finally cuts through.

You know I was worried to about the biting thing because DD won't let me look in her mouth either when using my finger. She clamps down. But I haven't had any problems really with her biting me. I think she tried nibbling my nipple once or twice and I just said no we don't bite mommy real gently and she never did it again. Now she has 5 teeth with the 6th one on its way. So you may never even have a biting problem. We'll hope for the best!
