I posted that my dd had a stomach bug. I hd been sick with a cold and NOW I cannot keep any food in my system. I am not vomiting like most with bug, just loose stools. I was feeling great by 4pm tonight and thought I was better so I ate dinner at 5:30. I know TMI- but I just flushed it all down the toilet. I am drinking tons of water and the remaining pedialyte my dd didnt drink.

How will I know if my dd is getting enough when nursing? How can I get this to stop? I cant call off tomorrow. I need to work!

Relax momma, baby will get what baby needs. It's important that you try to get as much fluid into you as you can. I found when I am seriously queasy, ice chips work the best. Try tea (decaf), toast, rice, cream of wheat, etc. Get a good night's rest and hopefully you'll be fine for work tomnorrow. I totally understand where you are coming from.

I agree with pp. I would try gatorade, gingerale, decaf tea. Water can actually be a little hard on the system in these situations and some of these other liquids may be able to stay in your body longer. Just keep drinking as much as you can to keep fluids up and follow the brat diet until you are better. Monitor your lo diaper output to make sure she is still wetting and pooping well. Also take some probiotics and rest as much as you can.

I agree with both above posts.

You will know your baby is getting enough milk by the number of wet diapers she is having, which should be 5-6 per day.

There is no way to get rid of it faster, except comsuming foods that are gentle to the digestive tract. Anti-diarrheals are generally not recommended for GI illnesses; your body is ridding itself of its offender, and the virus will run it's course.

My mom swears by canned pears. A few spoonsful of refrigerated canned pears may stay in better and be easier on your system than plain water, as PP said.

There may be evidence that eating fiber, even when diarrheal, may actually help clear the diarrhea up faster. If it appeals to you, you might want to try eating foods with a bit of fiber in them, rather than avoiding all fiber (as the BRAT diet does.)

I ended up calling off today. I am dropping my daughter at daycare so I can try these remedies. Thanks for your help.
