We are close to deciding on a name for this baby. One of the finalists is Jacobi, but there are several ways to spell it and I am not sure which I like. So of the following which do you like? His middle name is Edward and our last name starts with F.

Jacobi

Jacobe

Jacoby

Jacobi- I guess. TBH I like plain Jacob better-and with Edward as his middle name JacobE will be a nice nickname regaurdless

Jacobi.

My father's name was Edward. It's a nice name. :)

BHF- I like just plain Jacob too, but it is so common. Trying to give him a somewhat unique name, without being to far out in left field.

To the others-I am in favor of Jacobi as well, but DH thinks that having it end in i is girly.
It has taken us months to almost agree on a name, so I think we are going to find a way to make this one stick.

Jacobi.

It's my father's middle name, as well as his big brother's middle.

I've toyed with possibly naming a son Edward, if I ever have a boy.

As for the Jacob variation, I prefer plain old Jacob, but if I wanted the variation I'd go with Jacoby, because the other two are more open to mispronounciation (assuming you want it pronounced with the long E sound).

#1 for sure "Ja KOH bee" right?

#2 looks like either the o should be long or the E could be silent

#3 makes me want to pronounce it "JACK-uh-bee" and looks like a nick-name & might be too cute to be professional sounding when he's a man.

What about Jacobey, or Jacobie?

JudyJudyJudy

Whichever you decide, I definitely wouldn't go with #2 because it will almost always be pronounced with a long "o" and silent "e."

How is it pronounced? On what syllable is the emphasis? I want to say Juh-COE-bee. Is that correct?

Jonah. Oh wait, that wasn't an option ;)

If I had to choose it would be Jacobi.

I'd choose Jacoby.

Obviously, I am in the minority here. But like PP, I'd stick with Jacob, which is also a fine name.

I don't like "unique" names. I try to think about how the kid will feel in 30 years having to put something like that on a resume.

I'd go for Jacob. Or just Jake.

Yep, that's the pronunciation I like.
This so much harder this time. I am not in love with the name but it is all we can seem to agree on. I really don't want to name my kid the lesser of two evils, where names are concerned.
I keep hoping that one day I will meet someone or hear a new name and it will hit me, that's the name for this babe.

We toyed around with Ezekiel before I knew I was pregnant, maybe I should revisit that with DH.

Jacobi/Jacoby isn't a "unique" name; it's not made up. It's actually a name that's been around for a very long time; it just isn't used that often. There's even a hospital called Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, NY.

I'd go for Jacob. Or just Jake.

My goal was not to give him such an out there name that he would hate it when older, but I grew up as one of 5 Jennifer's all through elementary school. I hated hated hated having to be Jeni H my entire life. Then I got married and became Jeni F. Currently there are 4 other Jennifer's in my office and I frequently get phone calls directed toward that "other" Jennifer. I just want to find a name that is not super common, maybe that's a better way to put it.

I don't think this is an oddball name that a child will grow up to loathe at all. And I totally sympathize with being named an extremely common name.

BTW I think Ezekiel is a beautiful name.

I have a Jacob and so far he's only had 1 other one in his class. I also really like Ezekiel--you could call him Zeke for short. I don't think I've ever heard that name out and about!

I love the name! I love Ezekiel too, or what about Edward for a first name (Dh and I are talking about it!)

As far as spelling, I like #1 or Merediths spelling Jacobey

I REALLY love Ezekiel- but not a fan of the nick Zeke (-no offence just personal dislike).

I honestly don't think the child would dislike Jacobi or Jacoby. However, if he doesn't like it, he could always go by Jacob or Jake. Obviously I like the name Jacob, but my Jacob is one of many, and I wish it were not such a common name.

My legal name is Judith. As a kid, I disliked it, probably because I had always been called Judy. Now I actually like the name a lot.

I like Jacoby, and I like Zeke too!

My Jake was almost a Zander or Zeke.
