ds2 sucks in a ton of air. He's not a good burper either. He gets upset when i move him for burping but i hear all the air he swallows. Mostly on initial latch. but also when my letdown gets active he sucks aggressively and will start clicking. I can shift my body a little and stop him briefly but I have to keep shifting around.

His latch looks good and i have no nipple discomfort.

He is getting pretty cranky about all the air in his belly but i don't know how to help prevent it. And he takes forever to burp and is usually upset while i'm trying.

If he doesn't burp enough too he spits up on me big time too.

Anyone else face this? Any ideas to help this little guy?

Ds2 does the same thing. I can hear his little belly gurgle with air. I have tried sitting him up a little when he eats, and that helps some. We only have the problem on one side, and I think my let down just may be a little more forceful.

Ds2 also gets very unhappy when I try to stop him to burp, and he hardly ever ends up burping then anyway. I usually just let him keep eating and burp him when he is done, with a large towel handy, because he spits up a lot.

We are om the same boat, but I haven't found anything that is helping much either.

i have a very active let down and my ds does the same thing, he ends up gulping and swallowing. its gotten better as he has gotten older and i dont get engorged as much. so maybe once your milk supply regulates a little more it might help with that.

If he's clicking and taking a lot of air in, I'd guess that it's his latch.

I would keep working to create a better latch, reviewing the good latch versus bad latch at www.drjacknewman.com will help you evaluate baby:)

Totally ot but I just noticed your boys have almost the same birthday. How about that!
Anyway, I seem to remember my dd doing that when she was a wee one, the clicking sound. I just kept unlatching and relatching her until she stopped. After a while she didn't do it anymore.

Yeah our boys are 2 years and 2 days apart! DH and I seem to feel frisky at the same time of year I guess. We fall in love with family during the holidays! But next time I want a winter pregnancy!

It seems like our latch is fine. I think he is breaking suction during let down because it is fast. He does better if he unlatches for a moment and then goes back. It's strange though because it isn't spraying out or anything. I'm sure he'll get used to it soon enough!
