I've been double block feeding for two weeks now and am having major problems. I have mastitis on the one side now and I continue to become engorged between nursing session. My DD nurses 6 times a day, so I nurse twice on the left, then twice on the right, etc.

What is happening now is that when she is ready to nurse the second time on the one side, I am rather empty or half full. If I nurse her on this side, she eats a small amount, and is happy. But, 3-4 hours later when we go back to the other side, it is huge, engorged and I'm miserable. This continues all day and night - at night I just ramp up on both sides. She typically nurses around 9 p.m. then again at 5 a.m.

Should I switch back to every other side? I'm afraid my supply will sky rocket even more. Is two weeks on double block nursing not enough to regulate? I'm taking an antibiotic for the mastitis, and sudafed to try to stop the oversupply. Nothing is working. Please help. I've also already done weeks of cabbage, sage, etc.

What type of cabbage are you using? You need to start lecithin supplements to avoid mastitis. How old is your baby? How does the weight gain look?

I would just make sure that baby is getting enough feedings:)

Green cabbage - for over 8 weeks - up to 8 hours a day - it made no difference!
I've been taking 3-4 lecithin tablets a day since week 2
She is 13 weeks old - gained 3 pounds her first month and continues to pack on the pounds! No problem with the baby.
She can really go with only 5 feedings a day, but I've bumped her up to 6 to try to regulate with more smaller meals in a day. Any suggestions?
