Hi Ladies,

I am new here & I really have no clue if this is in the right place.
I had my DD 4months ago & BF her for a month till finally my milk dried up. :( I had a c/s & I just wasnt hungray so I wasnt eating enough to really keep up my milk no matter how hard I tried.
I would REALLY love to BF again. But IDK if its possible?
I have talked to my family about it & they just think I am crazy...

No you are not crazy :). Yes it's possible but it takes a lot of work. Ideally you'd start your body off with some prescription drugs to jumpstart things. You most probably won't get your supply up for 100 percent bf'ing but it doesn't have to be an all or nothing. Is your dd willing to nurse? If she is, put her to breast often, that will help stimulating milk as well. Other than that, you have to rent a pump and start pumping every three hours around the clock or use something called an SNS system to supplement while she nurses.

See here for a full write up:

Good luck and keep us posted :).

I agree with alot of hard work, it can be done. First off, check out www.fourfriends.com/abrw/ they have a link for relactation boot camp and it will give you an idea of what this will entail.

You can start immediately by offering the breast to your baby as often as she wishes. I would be pumping a minimum of every two hours to jumpstart your supply. You can use a supplemental nursing system or SNS for all supplements needed: www.lact-aid.com

If you have any trouble getting baby to suckle at the breast, you can read here for some suggestions: www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-breast.html

I would also enlist the help of a professional lactation consultant, this will give you some one on one, you should be able to find one on staff at the hospital where you gave birth.

It generally takes the time to regenerate your supply, the same length of time you stopped. So, if it has been 12 weeks, you can expect to be working extra hard for at least that.

At that point you may get to the point where you can exclusively breastfeed, there is no way of knowing.

Lastly, you can get a prescription for domperidone at www.inhousepharmacy.com This is what you need to increase your supply quickly.

I think reglan is dangerous. It has some major depressive side effects, just be careful. For short term, it is okay but domperidone is good for long term use.
