and on top of that ds threw up all over me as soon as he was done nursing, i wonder if this has anything to do with me being sick

First, use a humidifier. Use a plain old saline nasal spray- nothing but saline solution, though.

Are you up for trying a neti pot? This is where you pour salt water in one nostril and let it wash the nose and sinuses out. It comes back out the other nostril (or in my case, often out through the mouth as well.) This relieves sinus pain like nothing else, but it is not dignified and feels odd. And, of course, with the swelling and pressure it would take a while for the rinse to wash the blockage away- but it DOES work.

I would also take ibuprofen for the pain and swelling, and try a warm washcloth on the face. If you can get the pressure down and let all the goop out of there, you will feel better right away.

Drink lots of liquid. I find mild herbal teas help a lot.

I have to agree with Singingmom. The Neti Pot is amazing (if you don't have a "Neti Pot", you can make a saline rinse and irrigate using something with a spout. Make sure to make the saline warm, breathe through your nose, tip your head to the side and lean forward a bit.)

If you're not up for that, use lots of lots of saline irrigation from the bottle.

But you probably should get yourself to the doc with pain that bad. :(
