Hello! My DD is 9- months old and she sleeps like a 3 month old! She is up every 2-3 hours. Thankfully I have mastered the art of nursing lying down, so I fall right back asleep. Since we co-sleep it really isn't a huge deal, but I am beginning to wonder when she may start sleeping better. A couple of weeks ago she slept for 6-7 hours, without waking, but then got sick and hasn't done that since. Like I said, it isn't a huge deal, but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything else like this.

Could be a growth spurt. I have no real advice cause I am new at nursing myself only 6 months three weeks in. Good luck!

Honey, my 2 year old wakes every 3 hours :). There is no age = x amount of sleep rule here, especially not the first year or two where they are lots of milestones to be met, teeth come in etc. And of course illness, that is always something to disrupt sleep. My first child slept long hours from early on, only to stop doing that when her molars came in. My second night woke for the first two years and my third is still doing that...

I would question anyone's statements that babies sleep through the night at a certain age - how do people know? Most Americans anyway have their babies sleep in another room and quite a few chose not to respond when their babes wake. So after a while of course those babies don't cry anymore, since nobody is coming. Doesn't mean they sleep through the night.

I agree with Ima...I think its more normal than not for a baby to wake often through their first few years. A lot of moms have used/and still do the CIO (cry it out) method and that might be why you hear a lot about babies sleeping through the night early on. And sometimes, some moms out there get lucky and their babies naturally sleep through the night early on.

But add my baby to the waking at night list. DD's almost 13mo. and still nurses every 2-3hrs at night...your not alone momma! I just keep telling myself that it won't last forever.

My DD1's worst stretch of sleep occurred between 12 months and 18 months! She was up every two hours due to teething pain. You need to address that first, IMHO:)
