I just had a baby 7 weeks ago and have been breastfeeding only, on saturday my husband watched the baby for me to get some rest. I pumped milk for her. Now for the past two days I have hardly no milk. She is still hungry and I have nothing left. I have been drinking tons of water hopeing it might help but nothing is working. How can I get my milk supply back?? I dont want to supplement, I am so upset because the breastfeeding was going great and I dont want to have to stop. PLEASE any advice????

By which signs is she giving you that you hardly have milk?

Could she be going through a growth spurt? These are common at the 6-7 week range.

I really don't think one day would have made such a dramatic difference in supply---you pumped, right?

Welcome to the boards!

I agree, the best indicator of supply is counting your wet diapers~ you need to see a minimum of six wet in a 24 hour period. If you have that, you can stop worrying. Newborns wanting to constantly nurse is very normal and since growth spurts occur often, some days all you will have time for is breastfeeding:)

I agree with the others. Pumping is no indication of supply. Pumping only tells you how much you can pump.
Growth spurts do occure at this time and its very normal for babies to nurse non-stop. I'd just nurse her as much as possible and maybe even cut out the bottle until the growth spurt is over. The most effective way to increase your supply is to nurse, nurse, nurse...pumping alone will not do it!

Hang in there momma and welcome to the boards!
