Something isn't right. Im having really bad pain under my sternum that shoots through to my back and settles on the right side. I hope it's nothing serious and that the baby is ok. Im waiting for dh to get home. Pray pleasE?

kerry im thinking this too, i have had this pain since monday, i went to the hospital monday night and they said i had a kidney infection and put me on keflex and sent me home. but this pain never went away although it has eased a little and then flared up again today. I took TWO darvocets this afternoon and it did nothing to help, it hurts soooo bad it takes my breath away.

I don't think i have a fever but i feel feverish if that makes sense. I called the OB and asked for the nurse to call me, but im not waiting that long. I called dh at work and he is coming home to take me back to the hospital. I have barely eaten today because i have no apetite, and it hurts to take a deep breath. Im worried. if it is gallbladder related what will they do?

Im on prevacid for heartburn that i was having earlier in the pregnancy and last night i barely slept because i kept waking up throwing up accid in my mouth. nothing is helping. could it just be reflux or GERD or something. I am afraid. will this affect the baby? I am 37 weeks/.

My aunt had gallbladder issues when she was pregnant. The baby was positioned in way that caused the gallbladder to spasm. When the baby was out, the problems went away.

if it is gallbladder related what will they do?

THey may do an abdominal U/S but they cannot do any more invasive diagnostic testing due to the pregnancy. Normally they would do a CT with contrast, which is contraindicated during pregnancy.

THey may also give you morphine, which in addition to controlling the pain, also relaxes smooth muscles, which helps with spasms.

thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. Good news is baby is doing beautifully. Bad news is I have just been diagnosed with GERD. Im not exactly sure what that is, but I am about to do some research. The pain is a little better with a new medication they gave me, and I am finally up to eating something little, Its 9pm and I haven't eaten since yesterday. Hopefully i can get something in me and maybe get a little sleep.

Thanks for thinking of us. Im off to rest. :)

I am glad to hear mostly all is well. If you saw a picture of what your organs look like right now, all crunched up in a tiny area, it's a wonder anything works at all!

Try to get some rest, you don't have long now {{{hugs}}}

I had GERD when I was pregnant with dd2. It totally sucked. I hope they find some meds that work for you. Good news is that it was something that cleared up immediately after birth... Within hours after giving birth, I actually felt *better* because the GERD went away.

I'm glad it's not anything more serious.

I am glad it is not more serious. I do have to say that the pain concerns me a little bit. Have they checked your liver function? It is a simple blodd test. It sounded a little like upper right quadrant pain to me. I am probably wrong but I had a very rare liver malfucntion the 3rd trimester in my first pregnancy and I also had a problem with the heartburn much like you are discribing. I also have insatiable thrist, major nausea and general feeling of crumminess.
I am just throwing this out there because I wish someone brought it to my attention.
Good luck and keep us posted

How are ya feeling today?

I am feeling a little better today. The medication is helping I think. I still don't have much of an appetite though, and I can't figure out if it's because I am afraid to eat or just because I don't feel that good. Im going to try to get some lunch in me and maybe get Owen to have a nap so I can rest a little. This on top of the kidney infection is wearing me out. I am actually looking forward to seeing the OB on monday.

How about you? How are you feeling?

Glad you are feeling somewhat better and I hope you can get some rest! I was supposed to go to my apt today, but I rescheduled - the roads are really bad and my kids have just been awful today :( I haven't slept much in so long I think it caught up to me and I feel like I have been hit by a dump truck - good news is my SIL is taking the kids overnight tomorrow - I am so lucky to have her - she is the only one that helps me out :) Well, enough about me, hope you continue to feel better!
