My older dd (10yo) seems like she is losing hair to me. There is no thinness on her scalp, but the hair seems lighter and thinner when I braid or comb it. I can't tell if it is because she has lots of broken ends from attempting to do it herself and sleeping with it down (big mistake as her hair frizzes and is down to her butt) or if it is really thinner.
I did the hair loss test Dr. Oz mentioned on Oprah (hokey, I know) and she only had 2-3 hairs come out of a 1 inch patch I picked up. He said more that 6 was a sign of hair loss. This was about 20 minutes after she brushed it. I dunno. Does this sound normal to you? She is going through puberty: breast buds, moody, a pimple here and there, and deodorant is a must (salt crystal, of course). I don't recall losing much hair during puberty, but DH assures me it is normal. His father has the monk ring going for him as does his mother--she has had to wear wigs forever as far as I can tell. Maybe it is genetic?
She had a physical over the summer and all was well. She has no other health issues, other than allergies. WDYT? Should I be concerned or just keep an eye on it? DH thinks I am imagining things, as does my DD.
