The weather has gotten pretty bad here and I don't think it is going to let up much - so I am debating whether or not to go to my apt tomorrow - I am 36 weeks (according to u/s and 39 weeks according to LMP) They don't really do much at my apt, but I think they might be checking to see if I have dialated because I am having lots of contractions which I never had with my other two - would you drive in this crap or just reschedule??

Hmmm...I would need more information. Aren't you having lots of labor symptoms? How have your cx been? How far is it to the dr? What kind of roads (ie highway, rural, etc)?

I think you should call your Dr. and tell him how you are feeling and let him decide if it is safe to reschedule.

Yeah, I have had bh since last Wednesday - lots of pelvic pain, etc. Of course the bh are very irregular and all over the place - I cannot bend over or pick the kids up though without having them which I never had with my other pregnancies - I live 35 minutes from the dr.'s office - some rural and then highway. (the highway is usually not plowed very well) (DH and I did discuss however that if I do go into labor during this we would call an ambulance)

Duh, why didn't I think of that? LOL I know one time I wanted to reschedule and the nurse acted like I needed to be seen right away (which I didn't) I think because I have had 2 c-sections they really don't want me to go into labor.

BH are usually worse when it is your third pregnancy though so it may be normal to feel them so strong. I remember having really strong ones with dd3 that it would take my breath away.

if your life is in danger going out I would not drive unless it was an emergency. I would also reschedual the appt for asap when the weather is better. with very clean hands can you very gently check yourself to see if there is any dilation? nurses and other people with more education then me can say if thats a good idea or not.

I personally would not tell anyone to check their own cervix but I do know a lot of people who do it. It is unsafe because it could cause you to go into labor. We had a woman come in with her water bag bulging at 22 weeks because she kept checking her cervix. Since you have had 2 previous c-sections I would think twice about how you handle this. I hope you can reschedule especially if the weather is bad.

If you can drive in safely, but it will just take longer, I would go. Haven't you been having a lot of troublesome symptoms? If it's actually unsafe, then you don't have much choice but to reschedule. Hopefully they'll be able to fit you in the next day.

I would have no idea how to check myself although I did google it one day - LOL (I only got confused)
I think my best bet is just to call the dr tomorrow and see what he says - I tried to get in today since I was already out in this weather, but I was told the dr. was not in on Wednesdays.

I live in ND and the roads get pretty bad. I would basically do what everyone else is doing. Call and check the roads tomorrow usually in storms they have travel advisories out. If its bad and you are not comfortable going out, I wouldn't.

IMO call your doc and let him/her make the call.

BB after 38 weeks you are full term and it would be ok if you go into labor but for the OP it would not be safe for so many reasons. 1. She has had ctx lately. 2. She is only 37weeks. 3. She has had 3 c-sections and if she plans on a vbac then she needs to be on monitors so going into labor at home alone on a bad weather day would be a bad thing.

Well, I am not going in today - someone actually died in a car accident today on the road I would have to take - that is not the only reason I am not going though - the kids are being just awful today and I just have no energy to deal with them let alone bring them out in public. I am going in tomorrow instead and my wonderful SIL is taking the kids overnight because I am so stressed out - thank GOD for her :)

Wow, scary. Be careful on your way in. I'm glad you'll get a break tonight.

It is actually tomorrow night, but thanks! I think the roads should be much better tomorrow - the plows will be going through and salting the roads.

I never put mine or my kids lives at risk driving in crap weather. Living in Ohio we get it a lot this time of year. I would wait, and if something concerning happens go in to L&D.

If your weather is anything like ours (unpredictable in the winter) I'd just wait until tomorrow. If we have to miss an appointment due to snow the doctors around here are pretty understanding.
