The lawyer from legal aid called today. He's sending us copies of the new directives regarding moves and finances that come with having to find a new place to live. The CG will help with those things, so we have support there.
The lawyer said our obligation is to pay the landlord because that's who we have a signed lease with, and the other company can't really come after us if we don't pay them. He's also going to get in touch with both parties and get a straight answer from them and help us figure out what action we need to take if our place is really in foreclosure. So for now, we're in a holding pattern until January (Dec's rent is already paid).
This too shall pass. It's not our fault, and we have support from DH's work. This is my mantra for getting through this because I'm a little stressed.
