Not quite burning questions, stuff you have wondered about but never enough to really make much effort to find the answer...
Mine:
In the Pippi Longstocking Books, how is "Annika " pronounced? I always said it uh-neek-ah, but I was never sure if that was right.
I loved "Fried Green Tomatoes", but the movie forgot that Ruth and Idgie were lovers. Why did they do that? the book was good as it was.
In "Buffy the Vampire slayer" what ever happened to Riley? I liked him.
what are your questions?

I've always thought "Annika" was pronounced An-nah-kah

I thought it was pronounced Ahn-nee-kah
Riley left on some mission. Buffy tried to stop him from leaving, to let him know how she really felt about him, but she got there just after his helicopter took off. He came back a season or two later, married to someone else, who was also some military commando type.

Didn't you guys ever see the Pippi Longstocking movies where the lips didn't match the words but they were set to english? I am not sure what country they were made in originally, but I watched them my whole childhood, they were fabulous. Now I desire to find and buy them.
Annika is pronouced Ann-neek-ah just like the kid from Star Wars Episode 1 but no "n" on the end.

What a blast from the past.

Thank you! I hoped he was happy. And not dead.

I never read the book, but I noticed they did the same thing with The Color Purple. I guess they felt they'd get a better reception without that information. Shame.

Why is the movie P.S. I Love You set in the US?
As a matter of fact, it really bugs me when movies are so different from the books. I understand that they can't fit everything in the movie, but come on. When DH and I watched the Godfather I had to explain things to him because he hadn't read the book and kept getting lost (or maybe he wasn't paying attention...)

I'm off to e-mail mil so that she can get it for me. Yay for mils with book obsessions (nevermind that it is my fault she has more books than a public library)!

Along that same line... has anyone heard the Trojan commercial where the pig calls the girl up and she invites him over? It really creeps me out.

I know! They just cancelled Pushing daisies, and that is a great, smart, funny show. Yet shows like "How many will fight over one jerky dude", that stays on the air.

*sigh* Now, Bones is a good show.

LOL, IDK the answer to that one.

That's not it, but it's along that line. I hear it on the radio almost every afternoon on my way home (listening to Opie & Anthony).
The idea is that a guy calls a girl. When the guy talks it sounds like a pig, but the girl talks like a human (that can understand pig?). She says she's in bed and asks if he wants to come tuck her in. Cue happy pig squeals. Then she asks him to stop by the drug store and buy some condoms. Cue angry pig squeals. She cools off quick and tells him that she's tired and he shouldn't come over.
I just don't like that commercial. I think the part I hate most is when she offers to make him bacon for breakfast.

Re: Fried green tomatoes-they couldn't have billed it as a feel-good chick flick if they were lovers. Then it would be an indie flick, and not much revenue.

Huh. I never thought about that. Maybe fish just like things that squiggle.

You know I never knew Fried Green Tomatoes was a book first and I read a Fannie Flagg book ages ago too. I can't remember the name but it was about a guy that ate strange things..I think. Anyway, the movie is an absolute favorite of mine, so I will have to read it!
My question...There was a scifi show called 4400 on TBS and it canceled before any of the mysteries of who and how the 4400 came to be. Then it came back on and I never saw it again to find out how it ended.

I didn't think they were lovers but I did think it was implied at times that they had an attraction to one another and if it wasn't something that was so taboo in that era, they possibly would have pursued a relationship of that nature.

Speaking of good shows- Why did they have to have the Grammy show (or was it the VS fashion show) on during the Criminal Minds time slot? I love my Wednesday nights! Dh knows not to expect anything out of me during that hour.

I've always sorta wondered about gravity. It is my favorite conservative force. Still, as you say, I haven't wondered enough to go figure it out. If I do, I'll be sure and let you know so that you don't fall off the earth.
