A mother on another site that I frequent has been going through this terrible ordeal and she has shared it with us. Her dd was born a day before mine. Please read all of her December posts starting with "Empty".

Even if you don't pray, please send you positive thoughts this family's way so that their baby girl has a speedy recovery.

Oh my gosh I swallowed a battery when I was like ten and it was really old. It totally freaked me out reading what could have been. My heart goes out to them. I hope everything turns out well.

That poor baby! I am floored the doctors did not order chest x-rays when she was not responding to the treatments. There is no excuse for it and once she is better, it needs to be looked into.
I pray she will be okay.

The hospital needs to be sued and that doctor's license revoked.

It is still bothering me and I read it this morning. She is in the best of care at one of the nation best hospitals. All my thought and prayers go out to the family.
My SIL gave me one of those singing cards for my birthday. My DD has been playing with it for weeks. I threw it out imediatley after I checked to make sure the battery was still there
Very scary

How scary. I hope little Hazel contuines to improve.
I agree that after things have settled down with the family that they should talk to a lawyer and see what can be done about the doctor and the hospital. Shame on the doctor and the hospital for making the parents feel stupid.

Oh how frightening. My heart goes out to them.
It is good to see that the family was comforted by the prayers and support of others.

Poor thing! How scary! They are in my thoughts and prayers. This particularly hit home because I found one of those button batteries in my first dc diaper. I knew the battery had been lost out of the pen her aunt let her play with, but we assumed it had been lost or swept up. It is terrifying to hear what could have happened! One more reason why I would take my small children directly to a children's hospital in the case of an emergency.

What a terrifying ordeal and thank goodness they finally figured it out. I would be livid that a chest x ray wasn't ordered sooner. Prayers sent out.

How terrifying for the parents. That poor little baby. I can't believe the Dr.'s at the hospital didn't do the x ray in the first place, with her breathing being so bad.

no kidding. Even DS got a chest x-ray when he had his coughing fit & his breathing was normal by the time we got there.
