My mom watched it...I just watched it on the internet...

I say to each their own...but I am not one that will be an extended nursing mom...I can not see my 11 year old nursing...for ME that is a bit much...although I would never tell someone EWW or anything like that because to each their own...

Before having my son I always thought that I would not nurse him past a year, probably because that seemed to be what was expected. But as his birthday came around he showed no signs of self-weaning, people would tell me you better get him to stop or is he still nursing? But I have listened to him, I think that if we listen to them now it will lay a foundation for them to listen to us when they are older. You get out what you put in right. My friend seems to think that if a baby can pull down your shirt themselves that they are too old, so she probably views views me in a similar light to those in the broad cast. Although my son is only 18 months.

that is a little different then 11 years old. One of my friends nurses her twin girls and they are 15 months and I do not think anything bad about that! I dont think that someone is bad when they nurse an older child, it is just not for me.

I watched this as well. I, too, thought I wouldn't breastfeed past a year (actually my original goal was 6 months!), but my dd is 15 months and we are still going. I am indifferent when seeing a 4 or even 5 year old breastfeeding, but do agree that to each his own. I don't think I would be comfortable breastfeeding a child when they started school... running up to breastfeed while on the playground. Would be odd for me. Once we start talking about 8 and 11 year olds... it is a bit much for me, as well.

That said, I think it's amazing our bodies just keep producing it, even 11 years later! LOL. And I do love just how wonderful breastfeeding is for all children, regardless of what age or how long they received it!!!
