View Full Version : Got a job! Might be switching D's daycare - thoughts?

So through my temp agency I'm supposed to start a temp job tomorrow that will go until mid Jan or possibly mid Feb. (Say a little prayer this arrangement works out - I've had a few offers that haven't come together in the end.)

Here's the dilemma - it gets out at 6:00, it will take me appx 40 minutes to get home & DS's school will charge me $25 for being late (each day).

So I'm thinking I will send him to the home daycare provider I'm going to use for Lily (I'm meeting with her & checking her references today - but my gut says good things) so that I only have one place to drop them at and pick them up from - plus it allows me to have a verbal child to tell me what's going on with the new dcp.

I asked DS today, "Do you want to keep going to your school or do you want to try a new one." And he answered that he wanted to try a new one. Then I asked him if he would rather keep going to school where he is or go to the same place his sister is going & he answered that he wants to go to his sister's school.

So he's all for it.

And there's no penalty for switching out of where DS is right now. And the new DCP is willing to work with me around the issue that I don't have money to offer her until I get paid.

I just feel bad taking him out of the great program he's in now.

Just reassure me it will be okay.

From what you've said it sounds pretty good! I totally agree with the benefit of having a verbal child to tell you about how it goes. And with his sister around for support, he should have an easy transition.

Good luck! I've got my fingers crossed for you!! = )

Awww, shucks. They can't tell me if they need me or not until tomorrow. I'm supposed to be a potential stand in for a woman who might be having early labor.

I'm kinda hoping this one falls through now so there can be a healthy baby. lol

I think it would be much easier to switch to one dcp in general.

My mom used a temp agency and ended up finding a wonderful place which she loves so much but it took like a year or more. So I am wishing you luck with this agency and wondering if it is the same one my mom used. I think moving him to the same caregiver as your daughter would be better anyway. it would cut driving time for you in the long run anyway.
