My son is 3 yrs old and is doing pretty good with the potty, he usually goes in and poops totally independantly(in fact we have to chase him down to make sure he is clean because he poops and runs) but peeing on the potty continues to be a challenge, he can do it, when we bring him to the potty he will go but if we do not bring him in he is just as happy to wet in his pull up. Is it normal to master pooping before peeing on the potty?

Usually most kids will master one over the other. For example my boy (3 in March) is potty trained somewhat to the point that he'll go to the bathroom to pee fine but really won't poop in the toilet. Also he isn't dry throughout the night only for naps. We were having progress with poop but he had a unpleasant elimination experience in which it hurt. He was shaking and didn't what to go in the toilet because it would hurt. Either way since then he refuses to go #2 in the toilet.

Yeah my DS will do okay at most naps unless he's had something to drink prior to napping. Then he just might soak the bed.

I had my first change the bed in the middle of the night events last week because DH thought it was OK to put DS to bed in a pullup instead of a diaper. DS woke up at 2 am totally soaked all his bedding and bed friends were soaked too.
