PUNCH needle

Has anyone done this technique? I'm wanting to make a rug. I've been reading a lot about it. Experiences with the needles and sizes?

If it's what I think it is I used one a few years ago. It made a beautiful sunflower, very relaxing. Just poke poke poke. It had a adjustable depth gauge on the side.

The gauge of the needle depends on what fabric you are punching, I think. It has been years since I've done this, and it was a kit that I did.
