I find I'm using every spare moment I have looking at Cloth diaper Web sights! Mama cloth sights and trying to make my own AIO patterns for both! I'm looking for good deals on fabric for making them and getting sucked into the dark side of cloth diapering! I don't even have any kids in diapers yet!
I took all my small gdiapers and stuffed them with the cloth inserts and prefolds trying to tell msyelf I don't need to make or buy anything else.. but I still have this urge to shop and sew! Give me the strength to step away and get dressed. It's almost noon here and I'm still in my robe. (Love it when the kids are on vacation)

There is no help for you. It is too late.
I am still in my pajamas too. I am trying to persuade myself to do something useful and get dressed. Alas, we are trapped.

I agree. You are already gone as you typed this. I even think a part of you knew that already and you just wanted to try to get one more line out there before you are swept away in to cloth diaper land. A half-hearted S.O.S at best.
Oh, and it is going on 2 here and I am still in my robe. Kids are clean, laundry is being done, dishes are half way there, and I still look like I just rolled out of bed. lol

I don't feel as bad now.. house is clean, dishes done, laundry almost there.. (Then again, I have 3 older kids that can't play any computer games or with friends till their chores are done. Muahahhaah!!!) Laundry is my job but only 2 more loads and we are through for a week.
I am lost. I admit it! *Raises right hand* Hi, My name is Andrea. I am a clothing diapering aholic. I live to sew and sew to live. I must find good deals on Diapering fabric. I am excited about a shipment of mama cloth pads I bought last week that are due to arrive today! I feel like a little girl on Christmas Morning. The Post man is my Santa! **I know I'm a sad silly mama**

Help hun? Okay here is a story for you. I switched DD1 back to cloth on Monday. I was planning on switching dd2 when her diaper ran out. I was so excited! We had stopped a year ago because she got a case of thrush then a yeast infection. No matter what I tried I could not get it out of the diapers. It was suggested that I wash them again a full year since the last time, with detergent, borax, and vinegar in the rinse then hang them on a line in bright sunshine. I did this and they turned bright beautiful white. I was sure I had it licked. Monday morning her paper diapers ran out so into cloth she went. She was not happy about it, no number three no mickey these where not her diapers. Dh was pleased we were done buying diapers but upset that they where leaking so much. Tuesday I changed her before we went wedding dress shopping with my sister. The drive was maybe 20 mins. we had been there maybe a half hour before she told me take it off take it off it hurts. I move her clothes around to see a horrible bright red rash everywhere the diaper was in contact with her skin. Yikes. Oh yeah and she was leaking. So I changed her into one of her baby sister's diapers and stopped for more paper on the way home. Dh wants to still use cloth so would I but how can I tell which ones I can put on her with no problem and which ones will cause her pain? I love cloth, but now I'm stuck.
Did I deflate your happy cloth bubble enough for you to get non-diapering done?

Have you stripped your diapers. They may have a build up of a detergent on them that are causing them to leak. Also whatever may be trapped in them is what is causing the rash. Poor girl!! My DD#2 would get a bleeding rash on her bum in anything but Huggies. We did part time cloth with her and huggies for the other part.
Here is a websight about stripping.

Nope. Switched into mama helping mode and brought back memories of my DD's bum. Off to get dressed now before someone rings my doorbell with a package. :p

Moonbound, try washing them in just Dawn and hot water. Run a hot cycle, and then one without any soap. Borax is chocked full of irritants, most detergents are too. Also, make sure you don't use dryer sheets.

Thanks the article was interesting. I really want to switch. Maybe I'll try again. I know which diaper it was so if I set that one aside stripe the rest together and it separate....

okay I'll be trying dawn next. I used to soak them in borax.. yipes. The dish washer method doesn't work btw. don't tell dh I did that.

:gig: yeah I don't think my DH would like that either. Although he's been really great with the cloth diapers so far.
I wash our fuzzi bunz in a tablespoon or two of dawn every time. It keeps them super absorbent.

Stripping diapers:
Use 1 capful of Sensi-Clean on a warm cycle to strip them. Follow this wash with two
more hot washes to remove any Sensi-Clean residue and then dry. Sensi-Clean (also
labelled as Sports-Wash) is biodegradable and is made from vegetable based
surfactants. A very small percentage of babies are allergic to Sensi-Clean and will
develop a severe rash after its use. For this reason, remember to rinse the diapers
with at least two hot washes and watch your baby's bottom closely for any reaction.
Alternatively, you can use 1/16 - 1/8 cup of Dawn Original dish detergent instead,
although we have not found this method to be nearly as effective.

hehe... I have converted a friend into using gdiapers. I loaned her some of mine about a month ago with some of the inserts I made. (I told her she was my test subject) She called me back wanting me to find her some more covers and wants me to sell her the inserts I made and make her more. YAY! I have a reason to sew tomorrow!!

If you're looking for a reason to sew you can make some of those mama pads for me. :)
Seriously though, let us know how they work out for you.

Cat? Are you looking to use them for after the baby or later on? As much as my GF loves the inserts for the Gdiapers, makes me think the mommie pads are going to work out great!

I was looking at sites for inserts for gDiapers. We could discuss this further.
So far I am liking the gDiapers quite a lot. I'm thinking of trying them with cloth inserts real soon now.
