thrush

DS has thrush. The doc told us to get some gentian violet, but my question is how often do I put it on and for how long? Can i jsut put it on my nipple or do I HAVE to swab his mouth. I dont think I have it, or at least I dont have nipple pain.
I work with a doc thats double certified as a ped and internist., He gave me some nystatin elixer. I have given DS all of what he gave me and I still see wome spots. Not nearly as bad as it was before. So I was thinking about jsut using the GV to see if that will resolve it the rest of the way. But how long do we try before I need to amke another appt.
Oh and we have boiled everything!

I think its slow around here with everyone getting back into the routine of things after the new year.

No experience with GV.

In my opinion only, I'd get rid of (and stop using) the nystatin. I think the GSE is way better for helping thrush.

You both need to be treating even if you have no symptoms of thrush yourself. Yes, you'd need to swab yourself and his mouth.

ETA: be sure to wash anything that touches your breasts and the babies mouth in hot soapy water.
