DS is will be 5 months old in 8 days. He has been sleeping through the night for quite some time now. The past 4 nights he has been waking up A LOT. I start him off for the night in his crib, and when he wakes I put him in my bed. It seems like the rest of the night I nurse him. If my boob slips out of his mouth, he wakes and I nurse more. He drinks so much that he is leaking through his diaper and wetting my bed!!! Everyone tells me he could be teething, because of the way he drools and slobbers everywhere, but he has been a slobber baby since he was 2 months old. He just had a pedi appt and she looked at his gums and said she didn't think he was going to pop a tooth anytime too soon. He's not fussy during the day at all. I'm not sure what to do, I have been sooooo tired the last few days. I was really spoiled by a baby that slept all night at least 10 hrs a night. Could this be teething? Something else? I miss my sleep.

It could be teething. It could be hunger. It could be a new milestone is coming. As to the peeing through his pj's. Do you put him in one piece pj's? I found that the 2 piece sets helped keep my baby slightly dryer. SOmething about the one piece ones let the diaper gap up front and the ones with pants help hold it closer to his tummy. Of course I didn't actually do this until he was closer to a year old because he was so very chubby I was afraid of squishing his tummy.

could be teething,
it lasts for MONTHS before the first teeth come in.
mine got teeth at 7.5 months after teething since they were 2-3 months old.
It could be a growth spurt, that usually lasts a week or so maybe.
He may be too busy during the day to eat enough, so he's making up for it at night.
one of those, something else, or a combination.
isn't that helpful?
there are no easy answers.
If it's teething, try motrin before bed, and lots of teething rings during the day.
If it's a growth spurt, conscientiously nurse more during the day and go with the flow at night. (but change diaper more often or double diaper or go up a size in diaper is often the reason for a leak)
and if it's too busy during the day to eat, then be more careful about nursing every few hours during the day in order to cut back on nursing at night.

Sounds like teething to me. My DD nursed every hour at night when she's teething. Tylenol helped me get more sleep!

Thanks ladies! He still nurses just as often during the day, every couple of hours never going longer than 3. He is quite the chunky monkey 18lbs 12 oz. I can't imagine another growth spurt. It seems the first 3 months of his life was a constant growth spurt!! I don't change his diaper at night (especially since he was sleeping through) I might try a size up for nighttime.

Teething would be my guess my previous pedi looked at his gums and she also said no teething that was at 5 mos but lo and behold at 6 mos we have one tooth that has broken thru. I also second the motion of less restrictive clothing and a size up in diaper would help with the leaking. Also a growth spurt.. even if it seems like the past 3 months have been one. But all I can say is nurse that baby he most likely needs it.
I know my baby started sleeping thru the night on certain nights then everything went haywire. It all shall pass! Good Luck!

Sounds like a growth spurt or teething...
Don't worry, this will pass! I know how tedious this can be... my lo went through this many, many times.
Hylands teething tablets are great and are homeopathic which is nice. Tylenol works pretty well, too.
I am actually going through this myself... my dd is 14 months old and is getting one of her top front teeth in. She started waking up at least once a night a few weeks ago and now that the tooth is in the process, she is waking up at least 3 times a night. The only way to get her back to sleep is to breastfeed her, so needless to say, I'm pooped!!!!
Hang in there momma!!!! Take pride in knowing that you can comfort your lo in such a wonderful way!
