OK I called an LC today and she thinks I have thrush. This is what is going on ... a few weeks ago my one nipple was peeling and where the skin peeled off it hurt like hell but i kept up with the lansinoh and it went away. well now it is BOTH nipples, they are itchy, it hurts to pump and for like 20 minutes after, they are both peeling and have red spots where the skin came off. It doesn't hurt for DS to nurse but problem is I started a new job and I almost always pumping, the only time he nurses is between 7pm and 7am, so all day i am in PAIN!! I heard people talking about silverettes before, do you think they would help what I have? I don't really want to be going out and buying a bunch of OTC stuff for yeast if I am not even sure that's what it is.

any good links on where to buy these? please help i am desperate, if I can't keep on pumping I know my supply will go down and DS is only 5 months old!

Nipple Nectar is the only one that I've heard of here that uses/used these, and she really raves about them. Maybe PM her?

This is the link she provides: http://www.breastfeedingheaven.co.uk/silverette/prod_2.html

Wishing you a quick healing!

Yes, the silverette does eliminate and prevent thrush without the use of creams or concoctions.

In the meantime, I would treat both mom and baby with GSE. You can buy it at a health food store and what you want to do, is mix 15-20 drops into distilled water then put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray your nipples as often as needed, to relieve your symptoms. Take a Q tip and dip in the solution and swab babys mouth after each nursing session. I would treat the both of you for a minimum of seven days. Here is the link: www.drjaygordon.com/development/bf/thrush.asp

I do use the silverette and highly recommend it:) www.breastfeedingheaven.com

thank you both so much!

i called the dr today and i have an appt tomorrow, she told me in the meantime to make a vinegar and water solution and put it on after a feed or pump and it actually did help to take the symptoms away for a short time. not sure how often i can do that. she also told me to cut sugar and dairy out of my diet for now.

i noticed those silverettes come from UK, how long does shipping take?

Aha! You asked the golden question. I am actually a local distributor and handle all orders for the US and Canada for her:) So, it would be coming from Pa., depending on where you live, only a few days.

Just so everyone knows, I volunteered as a courtesy because of the time involved in international shipping, I used the product and stand staunchly behind it. I realize that most women who need the silverette, need it IMMEDIATELY, so, I have a small supply and we manage to cut down on shipping time tremendously.

It's all for the greater good of breastfeeding:)

I met the owner of the web site right here on this board, about five years ago:) Way before she was in business. She is just a mom like you and me, working out of her home, providing breastfeeding supplies to moms local in the UK. She came here in 2004 when her DD was experiencing a terribly long nursing strike and I helped her through it.

Her board name here is Determination:) That's our story!
