So...I am starting my next semester of school on Monday. I was going to Jackson campus, and now I am going to Coldwater campus because they have the classes at the times I need them. So anyways I asked where I can pump and they showed me the faculty bathroom and said I could pump in there....
I am very upset because in Jackson I had a spare office that I was able to pump in...I do NOT want to pump in a bathroom! Maybe if there was a couch or comfy chair..but no. It is a bathroom smaller then mine!
So, I am going to go to my car and pump...but it makes me so upset because I should not have to use a bathroom or my car! What kind of bullcrap is that?
Does anyone know if there is anything I can print out or any laws that they have to give me a place that is NOT a bathroom to pump in?

I would think that it would be more about accommodating the needs for the student body than focusing on breastfeeding accommodations. What about a nurses station? Does a college campus have one? If not, I would go to the administration office and ask for some courtesy, I'm sure you could use their space.
Even an area where first aid supplies are stored would probably be a quiet place to take a pump break. Surely these big campus' are required to have emergency medical supplies? Who would be in charge of that?

I agree with NN. Almost every college campus that I know of (even community colleges) have some sort of nurses station/office that should have some extra room to use to pump. Maybe the person you ask just didn't think about it or didn't want to take the time to find out where you could pump.
I work at a community college and the nurses office has 3 private rooms specifically set up for needed nap taking, pumping moms or the like.

I would be fine pumping in any other room BUT a bathroom! That is the one place I do not think it is right for me to have to pump in.
I will have to see if there is a different place when I start classes. For now I will pump in my car.

I agree~ there's no way I would ever let down and yield any milk at all in a bathroom~ gross!

i went to comm college and then a university and was breastfeeding the entire time and found that i had no place to pump either. i worked at my comm college so i used to just close and lock my office door to pump b/c i refused to sit in a nasty bathroom and pump but when i was at class at the uni i had to pump in my car also. i just think they dont really anticipate these sorts of things, even when i had to do a volunteer project at the women and babies hosp they had no where to pump there which blew my mind b/c you would think a place that delivers babies would have a place for the people who work there to pump milk but nope! i know work places are supposed to have places to pump but i dont know about schools that would be something to look into.

its the same thing as being told to nurse a baby in the bathroom, i dont see why people do that either. we have a lactation room at our mall but its next to the bathrooms and looks like a bathroom stall with a chair in it.

We have one of those at a local mall here too. I would never sit in there! I have a hooter hider and I sit on a bench in the mall!
I am going to ask my instructor if she knows of a room to sit in. I absolutely will NOT pump in a bathroom!
