My DD is 6mths and is having issues with a bottle of BM
She is EBF but my dad is super sick and my Husband has been having to take my DD for a few hrs here and there..
I had given her Playtex drop in's in the past with no issue, but now the milk like falls out of her mouth. She will not take an 8oz bottle at all
any bottle suggestions would be appreciated.
ps i have started her with a Sippy cup and she is doing pretty good, but not well enough.
THANKS :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Change up. Try a different bottle. I was having the same issue with my girl (2.5 months). She stopped taking the Medela bottles so we tried the Adiri Natural Nurser in the stage 2 (medium flow) configuration. She's happier. She'd still rather have a boob but it's the closest thing to a boob my husband can actually feed her with. They are tricky to fill but they seem worth the troub.

an 8 oz bottel sounds like alot to give an exclusively bf baby. My DS only takes 4 oz at a time. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html You can guestimate how much you should be giving per feed.

If it is only for a couple of hours try to bf right before and right when you get home. Also, a few sips of water or a cracker might do the trick too.

As for the bottel, are you still using the size 1 or newborn nippels on her? I have to be careful with the typs of sippy cups I use on my DS because some of them come out to fast and he is 10 months old. I use Avent bottels and haven't had a problem with them.

Just a few thoughts.

Ditto here and I agree that an 8oz bottle just isn't necessary.

I used the advent sippys too I like them alot.
DO you think I can give her a biscuit at 6 mths , she only started solids at 5.5 mths
the nipples are slow flow , do you think I should try a different flow. I was scared she might choke more.
For now it is a few hrs here and there, but in the spring it will be for a weekend. I have to tavel for 2 days to a fmaily wedding in RI. I was going to bring her, but I kinda wanted a lil weekend away with my hubby, maybe make another baby :)

personally at 6 months if DS was willing to try it I would offer it. Just keep an eye out for choking and make sure you offer small enough pieces.

My 6 month old DD takes 8oz in a Sassy MAM bottle before bed every night & drains it quick - so if she wants it, let her have it. Granted, my DD nurses the rest of the day & this is her "big meal" of the day, but some babies just want to eat in quantity rather than frequency.
The Sassy MAM bottles are hard to find, but they just started carrying them at BRU & online at Target. I also second the faster flow nipples - we moved to those at 4 months because she started to fuss at the bottle then & that fixed it!
Good Luck!

My DD is 4 months and has had 4 bottles so far. We use the Sassy MAM too. I really like them. You can buy them at Babies R Us and Target online.

ok I have a ? about the breast flow bottle. I got one for my DD and she did decent with it. Not to well. It took about 3 hrs for her to take down 3 oz.
my ? For anyone else using this bottle. does the nipple pucker when you baby drinks.
I thought the shape would stay rounded like a breast?
Do you think I should keep trying with the breast flow (my Plan), or should I try another bottle like the ardiri bottle.
Thanks :)
