My friends milk is very, very ,very low she needs help building her milk back up.Do you moms think it`s possible to pump to get her milk back up? If so how much and how long do you need to pump? Also do you think it would be a good idea to get the nursing box to give her 7 week old baby more milk to keep up her weight?she has been given her baby formula since the baby was 2 weeks old. Now the baby gets 4oz of milk every 3 to 4 hours. When she pumps she can only get 5ml out. So what can she do to get her milk back up and going? Also what can help her baby latch back on? She tried every thing and she wants to breastfeed so bad but she cant her milk is to low and she don`t want to give her baby formula no more. So can you moms help us out? Thank You!

The best way to get her milk up is to nurse as much as possible. Make sure whatever bottles are being used have a very slow flowing nipple. But try to latch baby first, and doing breast compressions before hand would help get the milk flowing. Have your friend try eating oatmeal and maybe adding fenugreek 3 capsules 3 times a day and pump and nurse often. How long is she pumping for, I'd say at least 10 to 15 minutes up to a half an hour it would take me sometimes. What kind of pump does she have? Is it hospital grade electric? Do you have a good LC in your area? That would also be a good place to start. Sorry so scattered I'm on bedtime duty and keep getting called away for one more song....

Does your friend have internet access? She needs IRL help, calling an LC or contacting the La Leche League will help her find help quickly.

I up my milk by nursing as much as possible. After my baby has had her fill, I pump anything that is left. Also, have her get the help of a LC

I've BTDT so I know exactly what your friend is going through. I wasn't able to nurse my son until he was 4 months old - he would refuse to even get near my breast until then & my supply was never that great but with the help of the LLL & my mom I managed to make it. She should try & pump as often as she can, I tried to do it every two hours but I just found that kind of difficult. Take fenugreek, blessed thistle, More Milk Plus and maybe try eating oatmeal. Also see if she could get an SNS - a supplemental nursing system. If she does all that, her supply should be going up & hopefully her baby will start nursing. But remember, it takes a LOT of time & perseverance to get your supply up & get your baby to nurse but it is possible.

I definitely recommend she talk with a lactation consultant in her area. Where does she live?

Highly recommend a lactation consultant and the use of an SNS. This is device that will supply the formula to the baby when he sucks at the breast. Your friend can get her supply back but she will need a pro to help her and she will have to really work for it but it will happen. This is the point where most give up. Tell her she can do it.
