Help ladies.

DS is 1 on Feb 1st. Recently got his 2 bottom front teeth.

Suddenly my nipples are VERY sore. No signs of thrush or even redness really, just lotsa hurt.

He doesn't seem to be biting me.

Suggestions other than see an LC?

My first question is~ is there a possibility your pregnant? Secondly, as babies get new teeth, they may crush your nipple a bit, before adjusting the latch to new teeth, if this is the case, it should only be temporary.

Here is the link for thrush (www.drjaygordon.com/development/bf/thrush.asp) just in case:)

There are a few possibilities for sore nipples (http://www.kellymom.com/newman/03b-treatments_sore_nipples_breasts.html#apno) , most of which can be explained.

Thanks for responding, NN.

Preggers...DH had a vasectomy...so not likely...but I guess a dollar store test wouldn't hurt.

Should I try a GV treatment JIC? b/c its KILLING me! It hurts bad. i mean B-A-D, like worse then when he was a newborn...almost enough to consider weaning.... :(

My baby girl got her 2 bottom teeth at 4 months. She is now 6 months (well, on the 15th) and my right nipple has all of a sudden started getting sore. And also, no thrush (and I had it as a child 11 or 12 so I know what it is) and she does not bite me. I just started using my lanolin again and it is helping.

Sometimes DS will suck the nupple into his mouth instead of latching properly and he has his four front teeth in. Could this be a possiblility?

Well, I have a marvelous product that I recommend for sore nipples: www.breastfeedingheaven.com carries a product called silverette, it really is like magic:) We recently discussed it in this thread: http://www.breastfeeding.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37232

I have used them for bite wounds, thrush and cracked nipples in the beginning, they are by far, the most superior product I have ever seen.
