My son has very dry skin, the back of his arms and calfs are all chicken skin and nothing I have tried so far is working. He's itching himself raw. Right now we are using Aveeno for babies but it doesn't seem to work that well on him, or my dry hands for that matter. Anyone have anything real good for me to try? Anyone use Vasoline Clinical on themselves or your LO? I bought some for me and it seems to work. The active ingredient is Dimethicone. ( I may have that spelled wrong). How about body washes for your LO, I try to bath DS every 2 to 3 days since it is Winter and he is not getting all that dirty.

We use Eucerin. I've heard here that Aquaphor is probably better than Eucerin...we haven't tried it just yet. Too much of the bin is full of the Eucerin.

We don't use body wash with DD, she is 17 months old. Can you use a fragrance free something?

What about decreasing bath time to something like once a week unless another bath is needed?

I have samples of Aquaphor, it is very sticky and it is hard to get DS dressed after putting it on him. I'll have to look for fragrance free stuff to wash him with. Sometimes we can hold off the bath but lately his poops have been very loose and sticky so he's getting a few more baths than normal.

Oh My I been having the same issues in the same spots with my DD. i been using only Aquaphor, it helps so much. But if i forget to put it on less then 2 times a day her skin get so dry so fast.
Even her cheeks are so red.
i also switched to Aveeno creamy wash.
Aveeno has a bath treatment that works wonders for teh itchey dry skin.

Ds has dry skin on his thighs, and pedi told us to use a dove sensitive skin bar. It works wonders. We also use eucerin, althogh it is sticky. Aquaphor is another one that works well. The dove sensitive bar has helped tremendously.

Cetaphil cleanser - not the bar, and Cetaphil moisturizer in the tub. No fragrance, not greasy, great!

Ellis had eczema pretty bad when he was little and I used calendula cream by weleeda and it worked great. It is a little pricey and can be hard to find but it smells nice and works great. It's not greasy either.

I use baby eczema cream on Jack when his face gets chapped. My advice about dry skin is mostly to avoid soap entirely. Cetaphil is okay if you want something more than water. It's not at all drying. After baths make sure to put on whatever cream you use on him, and be really diligent about doing it often. I also use a humidifier in ds's room at night. Winter is just so drying.

fish oil. Either if you take it and he'll get it through your bf or if he's eating you can poke a hold in a capsule and squeeze it into food. or you can just buy the liquid.

I use the Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer for both me and Rylan. They work great.

I use goats milk soap for bathtime, my son still has some dry skin issues with his back (some reaction to a laundry detergent) but the goats milk soap has worked wonders for me and my son.

The ONLY thing at the point I can use on my DC is the Auquphor. Ugh. I am not a fan of the greasy stuff. DH tells them they are slippery than a pig after a mud bath! But, they do wake up a little softer.

My DC react to anything else. We used to use Vanicream though 9before DD reacted to it) and I really liked it!
