I never used a pacifier with my son. But Anna seems to want to nurse for comfort; unfortunately I seem to have a lot of milk and she ends up having to eat more than she wants I think, or else doesn't get to comfort suck because she needs to pull off.
So I'm thinking a pacifier might help fulfill her need to suck.
She absolutely refuses it however. Spits it out and/or gags. :(
Oh, and the other reason I think she may be getting too much milk sometimes is she's a MAJOR spitter -- she'll finish eating and then basically spit up several oz. and still not seem hungry for a couple hours.
ETA: I just saw the pacifier thread further down the page. I guess getting a bf baby to take a paci is a common problem...

Some babies dont ever take a pacifier. My oldest took to it right away (until 3 1/2) but neither of my twins wanted anything to do with them.

If she takes it, awesome (because it sounds like you want her to have one)...if she refuses, I wouldn't push it any further.
With our DS, he loved his paci. We also started solids per pedi. at 4 months and he was weaned from nursing at 15 months. He did keep his paci. til after he was 2. He loved it!!!
Now DD, she flat out refused a paci. We tried twice and she spit that out as hard as she could or at least that's how it seemed to be. I made peace with myself knowing that I was going to be her human paci. On call boobies for 12 weeks was sweet!!
DD was also a spitter upper. lol. For quite some time too. Until maybe about 4 months she'd spit up what looked like a few ounces shortly after nursing. Maybe that was her way of getting rid of the excess? I don't know. She was gaining weight just fine and her output was good. The pedi. chalked it up as being her way of getting the extra she didn't need out.
That's not so bad that your LO doesn't want a paci. Just think- one less thing to wean from down the road, right?

My dd was a spitter BAD until about 4 months! I remember she would puke after EVERYTHING! I watched everything I ate, and still do. She does not puke anymore or spit up unless she is not feeling good.
my dd will not take a paci either. My bff had to switch pacis tho. Have you tried that? She uses soothies, but she bought the small ones. She had to order them online.
And I agree with shaunsmom...one less habit! I am glad dd wont take a paci anymore! She stopped taking it at like 3 months!

Try the finger. Try a different kind of pacifier. Try having daddy offer the pacifier.
My kiddos were not big pacifier fans, either, and I have a serious problem with lots and lots of milk. The last baby would suck on my little finger, however. Eventually she accepted a pacifier.
