hey there just wanting any suggestions for an 8 month old who can't seem to stay on long enough to get but a few squirts before he absolutely must roll over and play with something and go off into the wild blue yonder to explore. My supply is fine as far as I can tell, I dont really pump he just gets it straight from the tap. I still feel letdown and all that so I assume everything in that department is fine but I do worry about his nutrition. Height and head size are over 50% but weight is down there in the 10-15% range. I just got him to take solid food twice a day. It's just frusterating because if he is at all distracted by something he will not nurse.

Normal? phase? I dont remember with my last one.

Very normal and just a phase. My DD did this for several months though. She literally would nurse 1-5mins tops for the longest, except at night where she made up for lost calories. As long as you are getting the right number of wet and dirty diapers I wouldn't worry.

Also I had to nurse DD in a quiet, dim room to get her to nurse.

My DS does this too sometimes. On several occasions he has stayed on long enough to get a letdown and then pulls off to see what is going on and ends up squirting himself in the face. (I laugh at him.) I don't worry about it very much because he tends to nurse better at night when he is sleepier.

Totally normal. And yes, it is just a phase. Rylan was easily distracted from about 9 to 15 months. Try a nursing necklace or nurse in a dim lit room away from other people.
