So, DS2 keeps asking for boob, but when I say, "You want boob?" He screams, "NOOOOOOO" Okay then. Great.
Well, now it has been a week without nursing. He has latched on a couple of times, but will stay on for a second (seriously) and then pops off. He tells me he is done and away he goes. I swear this kid just likes to keep my hormones off just a little bit.
I have a question though. How long does it typically take to stop making milk, and when do our hormones level out? I don't remember from DS1 (isn't that horrible!) and I figured someone on here would know.
Oh, and we made it 27 months! Whooo hooo.

Congrat's on 27 months! Some dry up quickly, others don't for long while. It varies by person and often, by pregnancy (so even if you remember last time stat's, it might be different this time).
I have bf 4 (working on 5th and he is at 27 months tomorrow). I don't know about hormones leveling out, think I've heard 6 months after bf for most medical tests that you cannot take/get good results on when bf. But, that is all the info I'd have as far as the hormone questions and with your background, you probably knew that one - :)
If the milk is abundant enough to be a problem, you could use cabbage leaves to help you dry up. I've never tried it but several here at bfdc (over the years) say it works for them. For me, by the end of nursing, supply is low enough that even if it is there, it isn't noticeable or a bother (read, I don't leak or am not engorged) and I have never really known, I guess, when the milk was totally gone. That, plus in the past, I've always been pg when nursing ended so, that would have dried up my milk, too. Guess I'll see what happens this go round since I'm not expecting the pg situation.

Thanks Bama. I'm in the same boat as you with the no leaking or engorgement. I'll just slowly dry out I suppose. lol I'm kinda excited to be done because I know I'll feel much better after I'm done nursing. Well, at least I did after DS1.
I'm ready. I think.

I got my answer. When I put DS2 down for a nap he asked for boob. I told him that the milk was all gone. If I say boob, he'll say, "No, I seea it wif your shirt" Anyways, I said the milk was gone and he insisted on nursing, so he did and guess what? He latched on and then said...are you ready?!? "milk all done" Yea!! I don't know if he did get any or if he is saying he is all done.
This I do know, I'm not completely ready. :( I had a pang for a second that what has become a little bit of extra comfort for him is not going to be there anymore. My baby isn't a baby for much longer.
