We've attempted this before but it didn't work. Do you have any suggestions to help us along the way?

We're kind of going to be following this (http://www.drjaygordon.com/development/ap/sleep.asp) method.

I have no suggestions, cc, because all my dgks night-weaned on their own, but the method you're are going to kind of be following sounds reasonable to me. Good luck!

If I felt like he was going to night wean any time soon I would wait it out but he's nursing up to ten times per night these days!! It's driving me crazy. We're going to have to stop cosleeping as well because he just doesn't sleep soundly with us therefore neither do we.

He is super squirmy and seriously will lay on my face to be closer to me. I swear he would crawl back inside my tummy if it were possible. He feels like he can't get close enough!

We kind of followed that method when we night weaned our first baby.

Except that we waited until he was old enough to understand "not right now" and "the milk is tired." Also, "we count to ten and then the milk is going to sleep".

We never really let him cry. Well, maybe once, for two minutes.

Our first baby was an easygoing, relaxed personality who took this pretty much in stride.

I don't know that this will work with baby #2. She is the Queen of Everything and the Princess of Quite A Lot. But I'm starting to complain to her at night that the milk is tired. And sometimes, she's willing to pop off, roll over, and go to sleep. It's a start.

How old does this mean? He's fourteen months.

How old is your dd?

The Queen of Everything turns two next month.

Baby #1 was starting to night wean around 18 months. When his molars came in, night weaning flew out the window. He wasn't really night weaned until just before two.

The Queen of Everything is a light sleeper and dislikes being disturbed. Also, she must sleep as close to me as possible. If she IS disturbed, she must be nursed back to sleep.

Fourteen months may be old enough. You know your baby. Give it a try.

 That is about all I got. I just let the boys do their own thing. DS1 night weaned himself (read started sleeping longer blocks of time) I got up once or twice a night with him. DS2 ate like he breathed (read all the time). I pretty much just went with the flow whenever they started eating more too because that either meant teeth or growth spurts.

If it were a phase, I could deal, teething, sick, growth spurt, craving mommy, whatever. But this has been a constant since he was born and I think that it's even getting worse because he's getting bigger and more able to move.
