Would you eat it? I've eaten my fair share of squirrel, venison, and rabbit, and I tasted raccoon when one of the custodians brought it to school for the cooks to prepare for the teachers. It wasn't awful, so I would eat it again, but I can't see it appearing on my dining room table as a substitute for chicken!

I wasn't even brave enough to try 'possum stew, so I probably wouldn't choose to eat it. However, my motto is "Nunca diga nunca."

Now you've gone and piqued my curiosity! Translation, por favor?

Hmm... I have also had my share of wild game. Venison, and Turkey are staples in our home. We also eat squirell, rabbit, dove, and have tried rattlesnake a couple times, among many other things.
I, personally, will try any meat once. (organs excluded)

Katie, have you ever eaten pheasant? Yummy stuff!

Oh yes! I loved it! We do not have a lot of pheasant in this area of the state, but it is wonderful!
I have never had possum, but my Dad has. We have also had wild duck, and a wild goose for Christmas one year.
I think if any of us were hungry enough, we'd eat it !
Especially with a honey bbq sauce, and a nice glass of wine. Yep, I'd eat it.

I have smell issues, which is why some meats bother me. If I can't stand to smell them, I don't want to eat them.

If it was that little f88ker that lived in the chimney of our old house and kept trying to get in oh yeah with pleasure. She was evil.

NO! They are so damn cute with their sweet little faces and little whiskers.
Hell, I feel awful about cows as it is and rarely eat red meat.

I'd try it out of curiosity, but until its available in my supermarket or butcher shop, it wouldn't become a regular addition to the plate. I just can't buy meat out of someones trunk like that :)
I ate cougar once. An old co-worker of DH's had shot it during a hunt and then soaked it for a week in some strange concoction (I remember him mentioning something about pine needles in the marinade...) and then he grilled it up till it was well done. I took a piece out of politeness and was shocked at how good it was.

I've always loved raccoons. I still have little figures of raccoons that I've had since I was very young. That being said, I'd eat it.
KatieLou, on my next trip into town, you want me to run over half a dozen pheasant for ya?

I've eaten a grinner or two, some squirrels, a few snakes etc. I've never had the desire to eat a coon. The hound dog on the other hand....well, she has a different pallet.

Yes. My Dad used to go racoon hunting all the time.

I have a funny coon story, but I hope I don't offend anyone. This happened when I was around three years old.
Daddy came home telling us about a coon that he had killed. He and some men had been after it because it was rabid. Well, I cried and cried and was a bit surprised that no one else was bothered by this. I thought Daddy had killed a black person. :o Remember that this was in S. Central GA in the late 60s when people still used words like "coon" in reference to a black person.
Anyway, Daddy asked me why I was crying, and I answered through my tears, "Daddy, black people don't like to be called coons. They like to be called colored people."
My sisters laughed their asses off at me, and my daddy took me to show me the coon that he had killed.

I ate raccoon when I was younger. My dad would skin them and give us the feet, lol. We would dry them out in a window, and keep them like rabbit feet, idk, funny times.
I liked it. Was kinda sweet, or they just added sugar to it. Will have to ask my mom. I remember having sweet potatoes as a side.
