I say "I'm going to the market" Apparently it is an unusual thing to say around here. Every time I say it people look at me funny.

Some times I say "I'm going to the market" to, thats the way my mom always said it. But its funny, since we moved to Texas I have caught myself saying "I'm going to stop at the Walmart"

I just use the name of the store I'll be going to. When I was in Va it was "the Commissary" or Farm Fresh. When I'm in Fl, it's usually Publix. Here it's the commissary.

Either
"I'm going to buy groceries."
"I'm going to the grocery store."
"I'm going to (insert store)."

Grocery is about the only kind of shopping I do, lol.

Since DH does all the grocery shopping, I say nothing...lol...
But when people ask where he is, I say at the grocery store or WalMart.
My sister's DH is from the East Coast and still says she's at "the market," and I chuckle every time!
From frannie: " "I'm going to stop at the Walmart." This must be something fairly new, as my daughter says it and I think it's so funny. THE WalMart...snicker...

I tell my husband in some sort of piglatin-made up language that only he and I understand, then I sneak out as quitely as possible. If my kids tag along I spend twice as much. "When the great duck flies, she will see the ocerygray orestay... ETR 1 hour."

If I am going to Wal Mart, I say "I am going to the Wal Mart price. My 5 year old once saw a commercial, and told me that they have spiderman clothes at the Wal Mart price! He also wanted to know if our store was regular Wal Mart or the Wal Mart price.

I'll say "I'm going to the Acme", no matter which grocery store I'm going to

Do you need anything I'm stopping at 'name of store' for a minute. At which point my dh points out that i lack the ability to shop for just a minute or even quickly. mom ill just give me a page list including three magazines that she doesn't remember the name of.

Actually while I usually say "I'm going to the grocery store", if I say "I'm going to the store" that means groceries. 'The Store" is default for a grocery store. My mom does it too.

I just sneak out the door when no one is looking. ;)
Actually I'm not sure. I think I usually say something along the lines of "I'm going to the store" or "I'm going to buy groceries". Occasionally, I'll say the specific store I intend to go to, and I almost always ask if anyone needs me to add anything to the list. I'm certain I don't say anything about going to the market. I do occasionally get that "take your canvas bag to the supermarket" song in my head though, but I tend to keep that to myself, lol.

Usually, I say I'm going to the store. Or I will say I'm going to Publix, Wal-Mart, etc.
If I'm talking to Granny, I say I'm going to the grocery store. She sometimes forgets the name of the stores, so if I say Publix she'll just keep asking me where?? Where?
If I say Market, it means I'm going to the fresh farmers market for produce only.

Usually I just say I am going to the store. If it isnt grocery shopping I will be more specific, but it is almost always for food.

"I'm going grocery shopping. Last chance to add things to my list!"
Usually, it's shortly followed by "No, I'm not bringing home any giant bags of candy."
;) I'll give her credit for persistence though.

I call it the grocery store or by name. As in, "I'm going to Ukrops" or "I'm stopping by Fresh Market."

I'm going grocery shopping or to the grocery store. I think of markets as a smaller more intimate shops or a bunch of little booths set up outdoors like a farmers market.

Actually if I said market, someone would probably say, "... like... a farmer's market?"

I usually say "I am going to run to the grocery stare. Does anyone need anything?"
I don't know why I say that I have never RAN to the store I usually drive and occasionally walk but, never run.
