So Maddie will be 2yr old when Baby #2 comes. We have a wagon, we have a small umbrella stroller, and the big travel system stroller. I also have a sling that I used with Maddie and I LOVED it!! I figure baby #2 will be in the sling most of the time and Maddie will be in the wagon or her stroller. Of course Maddie could always walk when the baby is in the stroller. Anyway my question is mommy's who have kiddos close in age (2yrs apart) like mine will be do you think we will really need a double stroller?? What is your experience??

I've never had one, but I was thinking about looking for one.

Mine are 20 months apart. I would die without my double stroller!!!! Especially at the beginning. Evan would fall asleep on the way to the mall, the store, where ever and I wouldn't want to wake him up, it was so easy to just leave him in the seat and put it in the stroller!!! Owen couldn't walk by himself, he was TO young! My dh and I just bought a universal double. I think we paid $80 for it at miejers (Walmart had the same one). My infant seat fit right in the back and Owen(my oldest) loved it! Now we use it and the boys switch where they sit.
Anyway, I would have had a VERY unhappy new born and 20 month old without it!

Sit and Stand is wonderful...but then David was almost 5 when Dylan was born. The one I have works well as a double stroller because the older child can sit or stand in the back. I use it with my younger daycare kids as well.

I like the double. I bought most of mine used (five kids-many strollers) and my favorite is the double jogging stroller because I like to walk outside. If you walk in malls or stores, the regular would be best.

mine are 2.5 yrs apart...honestly DS was so needy as a NB/infant, he wouldn't go in a stroller til about 8 months old. We used a sling/snuggly type carrier ALL THE TIME!

Ds will be one on feb 1st...DD will be 4 in sept. I see our wagon getting lots of use this summer!

We use ours all the time! We got it used and I love it. Now that I have dd2 I really have given thought to looking for something bigger but probably won't. ds2 is 4, dd1 is 2 and dd2 is 4months. I end up with the older two in a stroller and the baby in a pouch or front pack or ds2 walking and the girls in the stroller. ds2 gets into things and doesn't listen well and dd1 whines about not getting to walk too then.

I saw the neatest double at the fair this year, the front seat could face forward or back and switched easily. I stopped the dad and asked if they liked it and admired it. loved it.

My boys are 2 years, 2month apart. I used a sling for the baby for the first few months but after that, I really needed the double. For walks, trips to the mall, the zoo etc etc.

I'd say it depends on the child. DS1 was VERY well behaved when the boys were born and he'd glue himself to the side of the stroller and walk along side it.

I was originally checking out strollers at Babies R Us with the sit and stand option but we ended up not needing it.

I used a double umbrella stroller with my older kids. With my last baby, I just stuck her in the sling and put the toddler in a single stroller.

Situations change. These days, it's easier for me to handle a single stroller while herding the rest of my flock. A tandem is a little unwieldy, no matter how it's configured, and makes getting in and out of stores a challenge.

We did the sit and stand stroller too. Sami was 3 when Mason was born, so she did not really need an actual stroller for her any longer; however, on long days out like at a zoo or things like that, she would still need to rest a bit from time to time, so the sit and stand allowed her to either stand while I pushed the stoller or sit on the stool and rest for a few minutes. We loved it!!!! We still have it, but we do not use it anymore now that she is 5. I would have chosen one less bulky than the one we have, it was definitely not the best one out there.

My kids never used the stroller except for: Disney world and when I went for runs/walks to the park. At Disney, we brought a single and they took turns. (For the first trip, DD was 2 months and DS barely 3. For the second, DD was 9 months and DS 3.5). I love having a jogging stroller that's a double since I can't expect them to keep up with me!

Both my kids used the sling all the time until around 15/16 months.
