Mouse (ds2's nickname) had blood in his urine at dr visit Thursday. He sent us to a Pediatric urologist today. He really scared me and also ordered a catheter urine test but told us to have them do it.

So we say the Urologist today and she was so nice and helpful. She did the exam talked to Mouse - and read him a story - and to us. Watched him pee. Asked him why he was no longer using the potty etc.

She ran a second test on his urine and decided that he did not need to have the catheter test. Apparently his first test also showed he was dehydrated - not sure how given how much they drink. So she wants us to have him use the potty every two hours and drink a lot more. We are to see her in two months just to be sure, but it looks great.

She mentioned only one thing that might be considered wrong. Apparently his hole is too low - within the 'normal spectrum' - but that might cause him aiming problems. If he stands he hits his pants. This was likely caused by his circumcision or diaper rubbing against the scar tissue from it. I so wish I had not had it done. She said they could fix it, but that it wasn't necessarily needed. Shocked at the idea of that i stammered out a no and she seemed pleased with that answer.

I'm glad things seem okay, and I hope they only get better from here.

Thanks he actually thought she was great and told grandma all about how nice she was and how his "Dockd-tor" told him to drink lots and said he was a sweet boy. of course grandma agreed!

awwwwww ~ poor little guy! Glad to hear it's nothing they consider terribly serious. If he likes popsicles, eating them is a fun way to stay hydrated. They come sugar-free, too!

That is good that you all got some kind of news. I hope that he continues to get better.

Oh that's a great idea Mimi, he loves popsicles.

The whole experience was very humbling. Going to Children's Hospital with it full parking structure and seeing so many obliviously sick children. The clinic we were in was very busy and the doctor said he had the nicest urine she had seen in a month. I was so worried about him but really he was going to be fine - something that was going to clear up or maybe be just a behavioral issue (actually I am worried about some sort of autism or similar issue) and here were all these truly sick children with their parents.
