An NO bids - ends in under 3 hours. What are my chances of selling it for the opening bid? I'm just nervous because I REALLY want the $$ (just bought a new camera I need to pay off).
I just had an auction end last night really low - I sold some books that a week ago someone else got 3x what I got. So, say a little Ebay prayer for me that this thing sells :) LOL

Since I'm one who watches but doesn't bid until the last minute, I suspect you'll get bids at the end. :)

Hopefully at least one of those people who are watching will bid. :)

Then who would I take pics of with my new camera?
I hope I get bids - at least the opening bid. I have had auctions end with watchers with no bids, but not with 17 watchers .... fingers crossed.

It's a steno machine. I do have a BIN but it's pretty high, about 50% higher than the opening bid, so I hope that I at least get the opening bid for it.

hmmm, you may consider a featured listing for 15.00 or a listing with that purple border on it for 4.00 if it does not sell...those always work for me.

I haven't put anything on eBay in a while, but I remember that I got most of my bids near the end of the auction. I finally had to make myself quit watching because it was getting to me.

in further thinking you would be better off if it does not sell to just list it buy it now for a little lower and best offer on it. ppl seem to bite more that way, and you are only out 35 cents for the listing. think?

I'd do this rather than spend the money for the featured listings. It's been several months since I have done anything on ebay, though. Has it changed a lot since their new rules? My business flopped as soon as the changes to feedback and fee structure went into effect, but if activity is bouncing back again, maybe I should start posting again!
I am pretty sure with that many watchers, the item will sell in the last few moments! : ) When I bid, that's how I do it! And I can't tell you how many snipers picked up my stuff at the last second!

Waaah, it didn't sell! :( I guess I need to relist at a lower price. It's a pretty specialized thing, so a featured auction won't do me any good. I guess I'll just cut the price and relist.
I half expect someone to email me and make me an offer - what are the rules on that with Ebay? Do I need to then relist it ON Ebay or can I sell it off ebay now that it's over?

IIRC, you may not sell something outside of ebay to someone who makes you an offer via ebay unless you have sold to them before. To do so is considered fee circumvention and is a violation of ebay's policy.
Just because I'm curious, do you have your listing set up with as many keywords as possible and an excellent description? I found my sales picked up big time after I started adding lots of keywords that pertained to the item, and repeating some of them throughout the listing.
you want to make sure the first 3-5 lines of the listing are the most informational/keyword heavy. That's what comes up in searches.
If you haven't done this, try it and then try relisting at or near the same price as last time. You may get more watchers and potentially higher bids. : ) Good luck!!

Well, I called a place that buys these and he will give me $600, so I decided to try once more and start at $650, and I already have a bid! So, while I'm taking a huge loss (it cost me $2k new), at least I know I can sell it. It's doing me no good now just sitting here getting more and more obsolete.
I think my keywords are pretty good. I do try to be careful about that. I know one time when I was new to ebay I tried to sell some cloth diapers and accidentally called them 'diapers' without the cloth part. That was back in the old days when Ebay let you sell used CDs!

I hope it goes well!
