I don't think it should be aired either. And it really doesn't make me want to eat more veggies.

The organization is also adept at creating controversy - I wouldn't be surprised if the creators of the spot deliberately exceeded network decency rules, wisely knowing that the ban of the ad would create more news.
Yeah, pretty much.
I like the ad lol, but it is definitely inappropriate for daytime tv.

Oh my. Hmm...it doesn't seem a WHOLE lot worse than the Carl's Jr. ad with (I think?) Paris Hilton washing the car.

ROLF. IA that it shouldn't be shown. There are children who watch the Superbowl.
Besides the rolf factor, what is their point? Eat more veggies and have better sex or sex is better with a vegetable?

It doesn't seem any worse than the rest of the ads I've seen on during the superbowl. NBC shouldn't have to air any commercial they don't want to. But I'd say this is really being nixed because it's PETA, not because it has sexy half naked women with vegetables.

That is true, too. I don't think that carljrs ad would have been appropriate during daytime tv, Didn't they ban that one a few places too?
When is the superbowl on, isn't it pretty early?, and don't a lot of people watch with their families, and children?
At least in the end they didn't say "studies show people who eat at carl jrs have better sex" though.
Either ad wouldn't bother me late , or as a commercial spot for an adult ,pg 13 program.I dunno though, not a big football fan, is the superbowl more of an adult program?

Wow that was a little too much! Well the guys would have loved it and I am sure some girls, but superbowl is watched by so many different age groups and it is something I would not want my 3 year old son to watch while Daddy has the game on tv this Sunday. I could see them airing it at a later time in the evening while most kiddos would be in bed. And it doesn't really aim at the veggies imo, as veggies are used by some people for pleasure, not me lol but I do know some who do.

I don't have a problem with it and actually think it is funny.
After the whole nipple incident the network has been eager to prevent anything that could be associated with "indecency". Last year there were complaints about the shape of the stage that Tom Petty performed (the arrow apparently was compared to a penis). Given the ease by which some people are "traumatized" during the superbowl, i can see that the network would opt not to broadcast something that IS sexual in nature.
eta: it does truly amaze me that so many people see "obscenity" in to me normal things. Does this say something about me or them ?

I liked the ad - and one of the comments at the bottom of the article point out that the cheerleader's routines are pretty suggestive sometimes, too.
It looked like a Victorias Secret commercial - except we can assume that these models eat something. ;)

I didn't see the Carl jr one. I'll have to google it.

So, am I extremely adolescent in my thinking? No one thought about the girl using the bundle of asparagus to pleasure herself and then a few takes later she throws them up in the air (explosion=orgasm). Maybe taking a couple media classes has ruined my watching TV for good.

You certainly seem to have a more vivid imagination than I have, lol. But perhaps that's what you're supposed to think, and my mind is just dull.

Is Carl jr. in the US? I have never heard of it or seen that commercial here in Canada.

I think it's primarily in the south west of the US. Other places it is Hardees, and they sell slightly different stuff.

Are Carl's Jr. and Hardee's affiliated?
I believe the Super Bowl will be aired at 6pm EST.

I think at some point they weren't. But I'm pretty sure they belong to the same people now.

They target different audiences though.

I didn't think it was that bad.
But as I dislike PETA greatly, I am not bothered by it not being aired.
I agree with rock_ and AuLait.
The Superbowl typically begins just after 6pm EST.

Doesn't bother me. I think it's dumb, but I don't think it should be banned.

That was my first thought. It's just the veggie version of Paris Hilton and the hamburger. LOL

I thought it was a good commercial, but during Superbowl? Maybe the after shows, but I know a lot of kids up watching the SuperBowl. (this upcoming Sunday)
I don't think it should be shown.

No, not the only one. DH and I both died laughing at that point. LOL
Does it bother me? Is it appropriate for the Superbowl? Nah.

I don't care for the ad but I don't watch superbowl so I have no dog in that fight. CM, that article you posted is from my county. If I cross the street I'll leave my city and be in that one.
