my son is 4months old... he's been taking formula supplements since he was 2 months... but in the last few weeks he's been taking less and less of the breast and will most of the time only take the breast at night... i really dont' want to stop breast feeding but my supply has always been low even after taking fenugreek and pumping like crazy.... should i just pump and give him whatever i get or should i give in... i don't pump very much usually takes me like 3-5 pumpings just to get one bottle for him... grrr this frustrates me soo much i know breastfeeding is best for him... but he wasn't gaining weight with just that..

thanks in advance

You need to decide what will work best for you and your baby. If you have the persistence and patience to keep fighting, then you can try to increase the breastfeeding, increase the pumping, maybe look into taking something like domperidone to increase your supply. Any amount of breastmilk your baby gets will benefit him. As long as he continues to nurse some of the time, he will continue to get the benefits of breastmilk. I'm sorry this has been so difficult for you. Have you seen a lactation consultant in person?
