Is this okay? We are going to a bowling party tonight. I get queasy when I bend over, and I am a bit off balance. I am wondering if I should just watch from the sidelines.

Do only what you are comfortable doing. I bowled a few times while I was pregnant with Dylan but I bowl quite a bit. If you are still not feeling well I wouldn't.

Did you ask your midwife/dr?

I went bowling when I was five months pregnant with Natalie.

I was awful, but it was hilarious!!!

Unless your Dr. put you on restrictions then you cand do any thing that you did before you were pregnant while pregnant. Bowling isn't physically taxing you sit down, stand up, trow a ball and then sit down again.

The only thing my Dr. said I shouldn't do is ski.

I think it all depends on your pregnancy. I didn't pick up anything new or do something that I wasn't used to doing.

ETA: WAIT! Is this Canadian bowling with the ball a little larger than a soft ball? If so, I'd do it whether I was used to it or not. If it is American bowling and are out there lobbing a 10lb ball then, do it with caution. lol

I bowled on a summer league right up to my 8th month. I actually bowled better pregnant than when I'm not lol.

Canadian bowling? LoL? I have never heard of that, and I don't think I have ever seen a ball that small unless you went to the kids alley.

Well then I guess bowling is in :) I will just have to hold of on the massive quantities of alcohol everyone else there will be partaking in...and stand way out of the way of anyone holding a ball.

I just used a lighter ball while bowling when pregnant. I also have a low dip that can make my hips sore when not loaded down with relaxin, so watch out if you have anything like that.

5 pin bowling is Canadian bowling. Here is a link showing their balls.

btdt. It will stretch your abs a bit and if your having any sciatica it might aggrevate that.

It will also be hard to aim straight. I bowled at abt 7/8 months and I couldn't get the ball to go where I wanted it to, b/c my arms were bumping my belly and the first few times I bowled it felt like my abs were a bit strained, so I had to adjust how I was holding the ball.

It wasn't impossible, but it also wasn't the best fun i've ever had.

Really? I lived in Canada for 3 years and I never saw 10 pin bowling. Ever. Maybe it is an Ontario thing.

Well I am confused now.

But I go bowling rarely. It is not something I enjoy to do, its more of a "ohh..hey..its your birthday..and you want to go get drunk off your ass and throw heavy balls down a hallway.... okay...I will come take pictures". Happens at least once a year, someone comes up with the super original idea of drunken bowling. Usually drunken disco glow bowling with horrible music.

I don't see why it wouldn't be okay.

Did you go? I rode my bicycle up until a couple of weeks before DS was born, and DH and I won a rock-n-roll dance contest the weekend before he was born. :)

I have issues bowling when NOT pregnant! lol the last time we went, ds was a few months old so my hips were still out of whack. I was so sore the next day.

I had no idea 5-pin bowling was just a Canadian thing! I've mostly done that but we do have alleys around here (in S. Ontario) that offer 10-pin bowling. I prefer 5-pin.. I think. lol

I don't bend over when I bowl. I bend my back leg when releasing the ball.

Unless you're using a super heavy ball, you should be fine.

I went and had a good time, but I ended up falling asleep in a chair inbetween turns so my hubby collected me to the car and took me home.

I either bowled the things where you hit all of them down in one go, or gutter balls. It confused everyone.
