I'm looking for a specific type of sequencing activity and not having much luck.

I have 2 students who have no set curriculum. I focus on their IEP goals and choose activities/lessons to work on them.

One of their goals is to read or have a story read to them, then arrange pictures from the story in sequential order.

Simple enough, but I don't have the materials. I have plenty of games and activities with pictures that they can put in order and write a story about what is happening in them. Those are great too, and help us work toward the same goals. However, I don't have any that go with a story that I can read to them, or have them read, though. So, I need some stories with pictures of events from them that they can put into order after reading the story.

I have to make so many of their lessons/activities by hand because of their specific needs. So I'm hoping that maybe there's something like this out there already so I don't have to make them myself. This is something I need to do with them at least once a week, so making them every time is not ideal.

If you have any suggestions or find anything please share!

And by the way, one is in 7th grade and one is 8th grade, but they're reading/writing around 2nd grade level.

TIA!

Hm.
Something like this?

I would make photocopies of a few pictures from whatever book I read to them, and Maybe shrink the pics to make it manageable. That wouldn't be too much hassle.

Tiffany, I know I had workbooks that included activities like you are describing, so I'm sure they are out there. One of the best things I did every year was buy a subscription to edhelper (www.edhelper.com). There are TONS of printables for every subject and now a section on Special Education. It was about $20.00/year and was worth its weight in gold.

Yes, Quilty, I loved abcteach as well. Also check out www.enchantedlearning.com, Tiff. For another $20.00 you can get all kinds of printables.

Great ideas, Quilty, I'll look into those more after dinner!

Mimi, I already have a subscription to edhelper, I love that place! I didn't find any stories with ordered pics though. We use abcteach too, and I'll look into the enchanted learning subscription as well.

Thanks!

I know enchanted learning has story books you can print out, so if you gave the pages to them out of order, they could put them in sequence to make a story.

Dang, I can't remember if the pages I'm remembering came from workbooks (hard copy/printable) I bought or if they were consumables in the classroom.

I saw those when looking for something for cub scouts the other day.
I think I saw some elsewhere, so I'll look thru my history for ya.

the only ones on enchanted learning that have pictures to put in order after reading the story are these, and I think nursery rhymes are too young for your audience

I saw those when I was looking earlier, but I think the text without pictures will make it difficult for them. I think I'm going to see if our school library has copies of the actual Artie Knapp books, then I could use those print outs with them.

If not, I think I might go with Quilty's idea of copying pictures from the book to use for sequencing afterward.

We have A LOT of sequencing materials at school, like the cards and such, but none of them go along with a story, which is specifically what their IEP goal focuses on.

And unfortunately, anything I buy at this point is out of MY pocket. They've already spent their money on the curriculum for the year. Then again, I wouldn't mind as long as the materials are reusable, so I can add them to my personal library.

Since the story is available online, it wouldn't take a LOT of effort to snag the pictures, save them,
and snag the story and save it as a word doc
and then paste the pictures into the appropriate place in the story.
also print the pictures plain and have them put into order.

But with Quilty's idea, if you find ANY book that has pictures, you can snag 4-6 pictures out of the book copied on the school's xerox machine to make sequencing pictures to be sorted in order.
